It's that time boys! Need advice
So the time has come to propose. (I know...I know) Short story is we were high school sweethearts and our 7 year aniversey is on July 14th. I got the ring already and have a vacation booked for Myrtle beach for the week of July 15-20th. I planned on a sunset walk on the beach when we accidentally find a bottle with a message in it reading will you marry me? I guess my question is, is that a good plan? Just about all my buddies are single and give me the same P whipped, your dumb, same ass forever lines so I ask you guys. We also have a 4 year old daughter together and she's a year away from having her bachelors degree in nursing$$$ lol. Positive comments or how you popped the ? please.
Congrats- I think that is a great idea. Good luck keeping that ring safe and secure until mid-July! It was burning a hole in my pocket once I made the purchase.
Your buddies are just jealous. Go for it.

Congratulations. As an engaged 36yr old I think you're doing it at the right time in life. I wish I had found someone worthwhile when I was a little younger.
I can tell you what not to do. Don't hesitate with the ring in your hand at the place you met and nearly pass out with 5 failed attempts to get out of the booth and propose and have her looking at you like you're crazy before she realizes what's about to happen.
I've done so many things most people are afraid to do and proposing is the only one where I nearly fainted repeatedly. My best man's role is to catch me on the way down at the wedding.
Good luck, I'm sure she will be happy even if you screw it up. No pressure lol.

Hey Cars! OP retread the last line above. FWIW, I married my HS sweetheart 43 years ago. Friends told my the same crap. She is sitting here next to me on the sofa. Best wishes.

Good to hear from you, I thought you were gone. I need to get out of the 3g section more often. How's life?
^Listen to him! I had some friends tell me that before and they are still single or not in a steady relationship with their current g/f or "willingly" support their kids from previous g/f's.
I got married at 24, bought a house at 24, had our first child at 26, and now our second child at 30. No regrets
ps...I had plans to pop the question at Myrtle Beach also, and I did, but it wasn't how I planned it. Nice dinner, walk on the beach, etc. The wife got sick that afternoon so I had to ask her back at the condo.
Her friends and family knew beforehand and they all kept calling her ALL DAY LONG to see if she had any news for them.Just do what you feel is right OP. If you love her, why wait any longer. you already have a kid together and it seems she is on the right path (career wise) so DO IT!
What in the hell is wrong with you dudes and Myrtle beach... a cheesy tourist trap. If you want to do something classy, come to Charleston, SC and hit a a fine restaurant, and then hit her with a ring blown through a stem of a wine glass. Have the waiter to bring it out, and she'll have to break the glass to get the ring.
But just remember love is grand; divorce is about $300 grand.

Congrats OP! Just keep it simple and try not to stress over the small stuff.
That is awesome!
I shall be like that one day too.
Nice! I've also got a ring and going for a vaca soon, but I'm not taking the ring to a vaca, my girl loses everything, so until I can figure out how to permanently attach the 30K ring to her finger, she ain't getting it rofl.
Have fun!
PS crazy romantic proposals are not for me; I'll start with a joke, nice setting and a response filled with laughter from her, that will do it. I don't drink Dos Equis.

It's not about the price, but the moment, and the life and journey ahead. Enjoy this moment. Create new memories and spend less time on social media seeking advice, rofl, you'll never get a good response.
Whatever you do.. hide your tracks. My buddies girl found the ring ahead of time. It started when he wouldn't let her use his phone. He grabbed it from her like he was hiding an affair (receipt of ring purchase and correspondence with jewelry store in email).
She eventually got the phone.. did some digging and then went searching for the ring. She found it and was wearing the ring months before he actually asked. Pretty fucked up if you ask me, but it was his fault.. I told him to take it back.

Right?! They're both good friends of mine actually. I shook my head and told her straight up that what she did was fucked.. and then told him (sitting next to her) that I felt bad for him. lol.

They're both great people.. so I really hope this is just some fucked up story they share 30 years from now.

I had a family friend make his then-gf throw a huge party for all their friends super last minute (30+ people). At the end of the day, as she is bagging all the trash from the party and everyone is gone.. he holds the other side of the bag, acts like he's bagging some trash on the floor only to turn around with a ring and pop the question. She went from fucking furious to dumbfounded.. he figured if she said yes through all that, she was a keeper.
She said yes. He ended up being a dickbag and left her for someone younger after they had two kids + one miscarriage.

Yeah, I tend to give a pass on the snooping and trust issues at least for a while depending on their past. Some chicks have been seriously mind f**ked in the past. But wearing it is kind of weird or crazy. When I met mine she was crazy jealous and insecure. I was ripped at 230lbs and knew a lot of girls that were always calling. Now I'm overweight and the only girl in my phone besides her is my mother so she could care less about what I do now.

of your future wife.
