Good info as always. I would concentrate on what she likes or what you think she likes based on your relationship. It doesn't really make sense for you to get everything perfect if she doesn't care for it. This way you'll be able to save some money.
Here is the diamond I ended up getting:
Color: E
Clarity: VS1
Cut: Very Good (I was fortunate to be able to look at the diamond under the loop)
Carat: 1.1
Also, when it comes to the setting, I went with the bucket type setting because the jeweler advised me that the prong settings can bend easily and have the diamond fall off.
Congrats, and good luck.

Here's a link to the thread I started when I bought my wife's engagement ring. I used diamond.com and was very happy with what I got.

Put a lot of thought into the setting as well - especially what will hold the diamond in place. My prongs are made of a different material than the band - a stronger metal - so the diamond is more secure. Also, the setting plays a bit role in how the stone looks -- bigger/small/dull/sparkly - since it determines how much light passes through the stone and how much of the stone is visible.

So the advice I give everyone looking for a ring (having bought two...). Know what she likes and get that. Go big enough so she knows that you sacrificed for her, but not so big that you're sacrificing getting off to a good start financially with your marriage.
Hope that helps.

Uhm....not really at this point. I need to stay reasonable, we just bought a place. Definitely nothing north of 8, would like to stay around or less than 4K which can pick up a decent 1.25....with searching maybe something more.
I'm really trying to stay positive in this process! This isn't helping.
