The age difference diminishes in importance as one gets older. That five years that means the world between an 18-year old and a 23 year old is nothing between, say, a 48 year old and a 53 year old.

The only age difference that bothered the piss out of me was my late father-in-law who married a woman three years younger than my wife...... and admitted that she was marrying him for "financial stability" - that 30year+ span did make a difference.

For the record, my gf is 6 years older than I am, and I've dated someone that was about 4 years younger than me a couple years ago. It really depends on the person, because both of these girls were similar.

The problem I have is... I'm 35 and I don't look it... most people say I look mid 20's... I tend to attract the younger ones... like early 20's to late 20's... which is cool BUT, I'm at a time when I'm starting to think about my future, and get going with my life, most girls/women in their early 20's are NOT thinking the same... Women in their 30's don't take me seriously... cause they think I'm younger, and if they are still single.. they're looking for someone that's got the "full package" -house, cars... etc. etc.. well, at least around the O.C. that's the case. Now, I'm starting to notice that the older ones are always checking me out... I think it's that whole... "Desparate Housewife" thing... and I don't want to settle down with anyone in their 40's...
