Mmmmmmmm..... Brisket

I have a brisket in the oven cooking and my house smells awesome.

Parents are coming to stay for Jewish Christmas, so I thought I would make some good food. I always do the brisket the day before, slice it against the grain, and pack it in it's gravy to be reheated in the gravy the day of eating. Takes about an hour to reheat, and it's already sliced.

Going to whip up some vermouth/butter red potatoes and some green beens to go with, and a nice Cabernet to put the parent to sleep. Mmm..

Happy holidays everyone!

I give kudos to anyone who starts a meat-related thread. It's a noble cause.

Traditional Jewish Xmas meal = Chinese Restaurant. I do it EVERY year. Even this year with the folks in town.

I doubt you can beat my Mom's brisket!

Dan's made some great brisket too, just a completely different (intended) taste than that of my Mom's.

Sorry, but only fitting that I include the "Well my Mom makes the best......." statement when relating to other Jews.

SS, yeah, moms usually do make it best. Not mine, but....

Techno, I stood with my folks for almost 2 HOURS to get seated at a decent chinese place on Xmas day! 2 Freakin hours!! All members of the tribe. Every single person in the joint.

I felt like yelling "there is a discount on (insert anything here) in the parking lot" really loud, because I know it would have cleared the place out....

The brisket sounds good.

As for "Where's Jewboy" on Christmas - Vegas is always a favorite. The whole town is packed wall-to-wall with big noses and slant eyes.
