What console(s) are you going to get, and why?
buying none of the next gen consoles. i don't think i've used my ps3 for more than 10 hours since I bought it. It just sits there collecting dust and judging me. I don't game enough to justify any of the expense.
Even still if I do eventually get one of the new consoles, it will be the PS4. I'm not getting the XBOX one at all. I already had so many issues with my 360's (between my Pro and Elite, I've had them repaired or replaced 8 times by Microsoft). Now the fact that Microsoft wants to force you to buy new was the final straw for me. No way in hell I'm paying $60 for a game that will more than likely end up sucking or last only 8 hours. This is preciously why I only buy used, rent from Red Box, or wait many months until the game price drops before I buy. The XBOX One takes away my option to rent or buy used, so I'm no longer going to support them. I really like XBOX Live, but not enough to be forced to shell out $60+ per game. So when my 360 Elite dies for the last time, I'll be done with Microsoft consoles for good.
not to add fuel to the fire, but if you're going with an XO vs. a PS4 because of the YLOD issues you had with you're PS3, you'll probably find this interesting:

I personally had a great run with my launch-day 360 (at least 3+ years), but it too eventually RROD'd on me. Somehow I luckily was eligible for free repairs, but still.
One thing that really pissed me off about the PS3 was the updates and how you couldn't play while updating... but luckily they have fixed that.

Update: Xbox One E3 Demos May Have Been On Windows 7

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news...n-On-Windows-7
Update: Several Xbox One developers have come out and confirmed that their titles were most assuredly running on actual Xbox One dev kits. Apparently, only a single title: Lococycle, was running on a PC because it had not been ported to Xbox One yet, and the decision was made by the dev team, not Microsoft.
Oh well
GameFly is having a 50% off sale on used games...

The Xbox One probably isn't completely ready to play yet. And aren't most dev kits PCs anyway? The main problem I see is if they rendered games on a high-end gaming rig and not hardware equivalent to the XO... but we won't know 'til later.

I read that the PS3 YLOD failures were mostly in the 18 to 24 month range. The slim wasn't released until late 2009 which addressed YLOD. I think a more recent article would give a stronger case. Plus 5,000 readers of Game Informer isn't a very broad survey. I'm not doubting the results ultimately because yeah RROD was everywhere, just weak backup IMO.
I may just give it a few years then end up getting a Wii U. I'm sure by the time Wii U has a great lineup it'll have gone through a price drop or two....
I'm a little jaded against Sony. Bought a PS3 with the promise of being able to play my library of PS1 games on it. Almost every game glitches or freezes up at some point.

Now that Microsoft removed the new game only restriction, I may eventually end up getting both; but its still going to be the PS4 first whenever I decide to get a new console and the initial prices drop.
Before I get the XBONE, I will have to see how the build quality is. If its anything like the build quality of the original XBOX 360's, then there is no way in hell I will buy one. Having to send 8 consoles back to Microsoft was no fun.

I can't get over the creepy kinect. the price and I'm in the same boat as others, I just don't game as much. I stick to maybe two titles every 6 months to a year. I my 360 mostly for netflix anymore and youtube.... okay and some other apps.
Overall
I just don't see a reason to go to a next gen, at least for a few years, wait for everyone to find all the bugs/flaws, price drop etc... Hell, I could buy used 360 games for years and years.....decades maybe. Shoot I don't even have borderlands.
