Trashbox360. Help red ring of death.
So i was plying f1 and fm3 everything was nice but next day i couldn't start console at all. There was 3 lights which means hardware failure. I searched internet youtube google i found that due to the overheating GPU got loose
and all you need to do is to take it apart replace x clamps with regular bolt that will hold heat sinks a bit stronger to the gpu and mainboard. I bought arctic silver for the gpu and cpu but it right back and still the same thing 3 rings i doesnt even goes on. As soon as press ON button red ring comes up. If anyone has any solution to fix that damn thing or just count it as a loss
i got it all apart again i repeat all these steps over and over again. Nahh i doesnt work. Anyone?

I dont want to get the new one bc i decided to buy ps3 once gt5 is out and keep xbox for forza and f1. I really want to make it work i dont want to waste my money for another one.

Why didn't you send it to Microsoft?.. They fix it for free..
Now that you tore it apart your best bet is bringing it to play and trade.. They fix red rings for 90 bucks.
My honest opinion is get a new one.. The 4 gb is $199

now this is actually serious. while it's apart unplug the cooling fan. Turn on the system and wait for it to overheat and turn itself off. This is actually critical to the red ring fix, as your mother board was warped and needs to straighten itself out and reconnect soldered joints.
and no I'm really not kidding, first time I fixed a red ring, it took me quite a while to believe I really wanted to purposely overheat it but damned enough, after letting it cool off, it was good as new...
and btw ms wont fix them for free all the time and honestly $100 or so for them to fix them in some cases is a complete waste of money. The red ring fix costs $22

Yeah i wasnt sure about that. I read about towel method then how bad it is for your xbox. So i was confused and i did let it overheat for 2 min but nothing happened. Ill try today again. Thanks for help. I'll post progress if that doesnt work ill buy some gas and burn it on the backyard
the towel trick, is like a very temp fix for the red ring that usually results in a quick death. It sort of does the same thing, but keeps it overheated to keep the solder wet and thus connected, but thats no way to fix it.
Yours might just be dead, but then again I thought mine was a few times too.

^ you can also put the cooling fans on just the CPU so that the box doesn't cut power due to overheating. As always, make sure you do your homework before doing these projects and understand the risk you are taking(for the noobs).

To clarify this post, the graphics processor needs to be re-soldered typically. By keeping the CPU alone cool, it will continue to overheat the GPU. Otherwise the system shuts down once the CPU gets to a certain temp.
