I just bought that game for my little brother. I don't have PS2 at my apartment now, it broke... but I do at my parents house. I was pretty good at SOCOM 1. I've only played 2 a few times.

I want to get it but i don't think i can hook up that PS2 modem in my room. If i can do it i'll get if for sure.

 

Darrin it is Socom 2 U.S. Navy Seals... you and 7 other teammates take on the enemy.. You can play on either team, plant bombs, breach areas together and shoot the hell out of the other guys... It is alot of fun..

Craig:... I am not playing with a gimp that refuses to fix his headset/router... You step on my land mines all the time because you can't hear ANY of your teammates.... They were all ripping on you HARDCORE the other night......

I'm wondering if you can help me. I had SOCOM 1 and never had a problem with my connection playing online. Now that I have SOCOM 2 I get booted out of games for lagging within 30 seconds. Sometimes I get booted before I even join the game. Its all hooked up the same it was before. Cable modem to Linksys router to PS2. Any thoughts? Anyone?

 

Hmm sounds good, i'll try and get it within a week, how much is it for online?

 

The game is $50 plus I think $30 or $40 for the headset so you can talk. You also need a network adapter to play online. But there is no fee for playing online. You just need the game and the hardware.

 

I just bought Socom 2, the original PS2 headset, & the network adapter at Best Buy. I have to say it is an awesome game. Only played the single player. Just learning the game. Never had Socom 1. Do you have to play well to join?

 

Damn, I want in! Maybe after the wedding next weekend!

 

How are you hooked up from your PS2 modem to your CPU modem?..

I go from the PS2 to the router then to the cable modem. The computers in my house are all wireless. The PS2 is the only thing connected with an ethernet cable. When I run a connection test it is fine, I just lag out after a few seconds in a game. This never happened before.

 

Jonesi might be able to help you.. he will be around shortly..

 

Was this with Socom I ? I know they had some serious server problems but for the most part seems to be addressed..

I never ever had a problem lagging or getting booted with the first SOCOM. Just the 2nd one.

 

That's odd.. Very odd.. Have you changed your configuration at all since the first one ?

 

Nothing has changed at all. When I test my connection through the SOCOM connection setup I get a connection. But when I'm in a game I lag... and eventually get booted. Pisses me off

 

i still need a damn netword adapter for my ps2.. i need to really try socom 2 to see if its worth it
