Here's an initial review by IGN. Some aspects of the game are very interesting (the way you unlock cars, the odds system, etc.). Most pics so far look good except for the one with the Viper in the link. Should be a decent game. Still no online play, though.

this game has some pretty sweet BMW's in it - cars that aren't available in GT4!!! I am actually looking forward to trying this game out... 
takes some serious balls to go after the Gran Turismo series so I gotta give these guys some credit. imo they are putting forth a more noble effort and have a better product than the ill-fated Forza Motorsport... and even though the game "only" has ~200 cars, it seems to have the best of the best...

you're right, Forza reminds me of PGR with its floaty looking feel typical of Xbox racing games.

Other racing franchises (with the possible exception of Enthusia) have yet to come close to the level of scrutiny that Gran Turismo 4 has--this alone makes the game worth playing for the hardcore racing fans.

I am not buying Enthusia...
-16:9 and 480p aren't supported
-Small selection of cars
-The graphic isn't even close to GT3's level
-Nurburgring looks awful in the game, I don't care if the handling or the sound is realistic. At least the ring doesn't look real to me.
