There will be a shifter, it's coming later and I assume sold separately.

That's gonna be an expensive ass wheel!

Wait a minute!?! already 500-600 for the wheel and pedals. But even MORE for the shifter?!

And here I am thinking I was crazy for buying the $300 g27

You're better off buying the Fanatec GT2.
http://www.fanatec.de/webshop/new_us...products_id=89

$100 cheaper, but you get a shifter and a very well made wheel.

I got bored of racing a while ago. I don't race unless it's against friends. Because I'm sure most online lobbies will have dirty/bad drivers. Should start drifting . I've given away a few drift cars and set up for a few people on my list already. Send me a fully modded car and I'll set it up to drift.

I tried the g27 at my friends place. Does make racing a lot more fun. We were doing time trials... So you'd have the ghost who had the record. Lots of frustration watching the ghost pass you as miss shift. Lots of fun watching people do the same though hahaha.

Drifting with the g27. Incredibly difficult. People have said it's harder than real life drifting. I could drift around corners but I couldn't link more than 2 corners easily like I could with the controller. I've seen others do it. I'll just have to find the right car/steering wheel tuning.

I have to admit, I never *really* felt excited to get back home, and play it. It was more like "guess I'll play some GT5". The benefits and rewards totally suck! They give me no incentive to play. My next level up (20) is like at 44000 or something and I'm currently at I don't know 23000 (these numbers may be totally wrong) and I'm gaining like what, 1300 per race? Are you f*cking kidding me???? Whats the point of that? This game is not satisfying, at all. It was fun to drive the Enzo but knowing I blew away 1mil in credits just to drive it kind of negates the effect. I haven't played in a week and I don't really miss it. I do miss playing MW2 and Black Ops tho. I think I may be firing those up soon.

To sum up, the rewards system in this game is totally f*cked, they need to give us more or lower the prices on the upgrades and cars or something. Why do I have to spend over 100k to max the performance upgrades on a Civic that cost me 12k? Why are race tires 36k? it makes no damn sense. The game makes no damn sense.

Have you played the seasonal events? It's GT5's answer to complaints about experience and credit rewards. You don't even need to get first place to get a significant amount of experience and credits.

There is little incentive for me to get the cash for a f1 car, but I have most of the cars I wanted with 3 weeks of "playing". I would agree that the game bits of forza are better though.

I looked in there but haven't tried a race. I wanted to do the NASCAR @ the Ring but needed level 21 and a NASCAR. Maybe I will look in there again tonight and see how it goes. I looked at some of the lower level races and it was some shitbox cars I had no desire to drive.

Also, the descriptions are very vague. It says something like, place higher than you did before and gain credits and experience, you will not gain any more if you run the race again and place the same or lower. or some BS. lol. I was like WTF is this sh*t. and I did try the Time Trials, those were totally hopeless and also discouraging.

I haven't tried the NASCAR one but the GTR one was pretty easy. For every race I just searched youtube or GTPlanet and got settings, because doing an oil change gives you an unspecified amount of HP making your car ineligible for the race.

If I couldn't get first in a few tries I just gave up. No point in wasting so much time. The novelty of beating it wasn't really there for me. The GTR one gave me 1million credits and 100,000 experience.

The way the payout is... if you get 3rd on your first try. You get the rewards for 3rd, 4th, 5th etc etc. On your second try if you get 1st place. You would only get the rewards for 1st and 2nd. Once you get 1st place for an event it was pointless to redo them because you don't earn anything.

The only fun part left in GT5 for me is drifting and racing friends. Racing friends is fun because we'll all use the same car, with maybe different tuning annnnd drive clean. Aspec and Bspec is just there for me to fund drifting and random car purchases.

That's the problem I've had with the GT series since GT3, it's too tedious.

And also the rewards for extreme races or whatever are too little.
Like for example for the "like the wind" race. If you don't do bspec and get the furai, then you need a 2+ million dollar car.
1st place only nets you 84,000 credits.

That's what I'm doing right now, farming 84,000 credits every 5 minutes.

who wants to go home and 'farm' credits on a video game??? thats so :ghey:

if I could get on PSN and get unlimited credits for $100, I would do it. :cuckoo:

edit: i know the answer to the first question: kids. sadly, i am not a kid anymore.

And race tires are really expensive IRL.

And why would you dump 100k into a civic? If you can't win with basic mods then get off the road!

And unlimited credits would make the game too easy and satisfy all the "I want it now!!!" type of people who dont want to earn their stuff.

yeah, they are. but 36,000 race tires go on RACE CARS, not street-driven civics. hmm, ok maybe I shouldnt have bought those for that car. LOL

its not a question of can or can't. its a question of want or don't want.

I can't stand RPG's, g*damn waste of time. Not like, I don't waste my time. I just would rather waste it, doing other things.

well that's why it costs money. and, I don't care if the game is "easy", I have been playing GT since the day it came out in 1997 (even earlier, with the Japanese version) and don't feel like I need to play it at the 'same level' in 2010. And I don't feel anything bad about feeling that way. I've been there and done that.

Since the new update people have been duplicating cars. Say I've got an Enzo... I back up my game save and then I send it to Srika. Now I just delete my game save and reload the old one. Now we've both got Enzo's at the cost of one. Soooo you could get unlimited credits... kind of...

So things like x2010's FGT's have been getting duped. Once I reach 150 cars I'm gonna be duping chrome paint chips.

Once you reach level 23 and can do the American Indy race. Cash won't be a problem since it's 119k per 3.5 minutes. I did the level 25 endurance race and at the end of it. Endurance race isn't fun to me...

Earning things the hard way is great. But in GT5 it's kind of boring. I bought gameshark specifically for GT4 so that I could get unlimited credits.

cool about the duping cars, still seems like a waste of time.

I've had gameshark in the past as well and loved how much time it saved me. that's all this is about, time. If I was still a kid, I would love this game to death and probably play it for hours every day. Of course my parents wouldn't like it very much. lool
