Just so you guys know, I was at how crappy this game looked. I can see why the MS boys at those forums hate the PS3...such absolute this machine is. Wow. It amazes me.

Almost makes it seem that the PS3 was made by Mexicans or something.

Those are some really small pictures. Especially on a 1440 x 900 resolution. Could you please make them bigger? Can't see anything.

meh, looks good, but sitll just looks like a video game, adn it's just a driving game anyways. nothing that would warrant a console purchase. I'm still not buying a PS3

and that grassy road, i wonder if thats gonna be a new rally course or something that they're adding

Dont understand why everyone is busting a nut for this game. It has a little, and i do mean little bit better textures and graphics than GT4, the backdrops are still 2d and the lighting is not very realistic. Not to mention that other than online play, it has nothing next gen to offer. I am not a fanboy, either. I still play GT4 weekly. I just wished that sony would have released a full fleged gt5. I think they are simply tsting the waters of micros transactions to see if people will bite. People will bite at first becuase GTHD will be the first GT game of the next gen, but i dont think once gt5 rolls around, people will be eager to spend more money after the initial purchase. It's ok to purhcase a few new car packs or individual cars and mods, but to have to spend money on new wheels, or new upgrades, thats just ridiculous. I just feel bad for people like my little 15-16 year old cousins, who saved money for this system and are GT4 drift kings. They have jobs and at their age, they souldnt have to spend money on a game they've loved for years, when in the past they were given everything.

I don't know about the others, but I don't buy the PS3 for just GTHD/GT5 alone.

Plus we already knew that GTHD is just GT4 with 1080p graphic.

also posted this in the other thread but this is about GT:HD and GT5 so I think its worthwhile to post in here too. good interview.

interesting car choices!!

What cars do you own, and what are your favourite track and racing formula?

Kazunori Yamauchi: I own a Ford GT, a Nissan 350Z, a Honda S2000, an AMG SL55 and a Porsche GT3. The Nurburgring is my favourite track and Formula One has to be my favourite.

Do we know anything about GT5 at this point in time? Is it also going to incorporate this asinine pay-for-tracks-and-money thing? I'm not much of an online player, and I would rather play and win a lot of the different cars and tracks on my own, rather than spend money to get them. Pretty stupid business idea.

As someone above mentioned, I don't know how this will impact all the kids who're working after school and saving up to buy the game, and then they find out they have to keep paying to develop their garage. Not quite sure what the developers are thinking with this.

My desire to buy a PS3 was driven in part by the next-gen GT, but after reading about this development, I'm not sure if I'm going to bother buying the console anytime soon.

but the core game is probably gonna only be like $20-$25, if it's still $50 then that
s the stupidist thing I've ever heard.

There is speculation that you will also be able to go the "offline" route, if you want. We shall see. But that might not be until the full-fledged GT5. GT:HD is clearly being marketed as an (albeit massively delayed) online supplement to GT4, along with a bonus preview of GT5.

But the car in the video didn't look that great when it was driving around. a couple parts the shading and lighting was all off. when it ripped around the curve and drifted a little, there were no particles being kicked up or anything. You'd think they'd add stuff like that in now esp with the PS3 having more processor power and the better graphics capabilities compared to the PS2.

Anyone else notice that?

I noticed it. Some parts looked quite odd. I am quite sure they will be fixed for the final version, I have a lot of faith in Polyphony - they have had a history of showing "rough" versions of GT games, with the final version always looking/playing better.

Gran Turismo HD

So, the tech demo of E3 2006 became a real game...but what is it, really? It's broken down into two parts: "Classic" and "Premium." The basic idea is that the game disc will be inexpensively priced (or, as rumor has it, potentially free) and you'll download the cars and tracks you want for a yet-to-be-determined fee. On the Classic side, Sony will offer all of the previous GT games' tracks and cars bumped up to high-res for PS3. The Premium component is where 99% of development is focused. It has a new PS3-specific graphics engine with cars that take the developer six months to create - and judging by the one-course demo we played, you can tell. It really is impossible to imagine videogame cars ever looking more detailed.

Many features on the Premium side will be rolled out in phases via downloads, including biggies like full car damage (visual and performance hampering) and totally re-written opponent AI. THere are a lot of ideas on the table for this out-of-the-ordinary entry in the GT franchise, and we'll continue to cover them as they - like the game will be even after it's released - are developed.

what would be even more awesomer (if that were a word) is if they introduced a program that people could buy that let's gamers create their own custom cars. and load them in, share them with the community. but that would undermine their strategy

Like what? An Aston Martin DB9 with a Renntech-AMG-Calsonic-Brabus-M engine mod and headers?

$0.65 x 300 = $195.00

AND...

Average track price: $3.00
Tracks available at launch: 50

Lets just say that not everyone wants every single track either. About 30 tracks?

$3.00 x 30 = $90

And lets just say the game itself is $20.

$195.00
$ 90.00
$ 20.00
$305.00

Well, at least now I won't have to wonder why the fuck there's a Daihatsu truck in the dealership for sale, because now I don't have to spend money to see that turd in the game.

I love GT so much that I was about to go out and buy a slim PS2, used GT4 and a wheel, but I was hesitant, because I think I would be able to afford a PS3. I think after reading this article, I will go out and get the PS2, GT4, and the wheel. I should have kept my old PS2...

Oh, and I forgot to mention, MORE CARS WILL COME OUT IN THE FUTURE! And the "limited edition" BS they feed us will cost even more.

I bet not all 750 cars will be fully ready by launch. Maybe 400, then they work out the bugs on the 350 cars (in-game) that are ridiculously priced, since no one is going to get them for quite a while anyway.

I may sound like a Microsoft "fanboy" or whatever, but this is insane. I've seen people use the term M$ a lot. I think now they're going to start using $ony quite a bit.

Oh... and if they don't even let you buy a 2G TL, or Inspire or Saber or whatever in GT HD, I will be pissed.
wow this is krazy! :/
