lol. yes that must be it. you don't have to play if you feel you might lose.

btw I think its absolutely ridiculous to think that just because someone spent $1600 on a steering wheel they necessarily will drive better than someone playing on a 6-axis controller. I also think its absolutely ridiculous to think that just because someone spent that much on a camera they will take better photos.

There is more precision in the wheel and pedals then with a controller. W/ a controller it's mostly on or off when it comes to braking and throttle control. And more control with steering.
But just cause they have a wheel doesn't mean they're good with it.

If you were to match up someone really good with a controller and someone really good with a wheel, the wheel guy would win. IMVHO.

Whats up with RDX owners?

Why dont we just see how it plays out with the wheel vs controllers during the actual competition and go from there? If the steering wheels seem to be the winners all the time, then split them up to level the playing field.

Seriously? You are paying for high quality construction and materials which give you a long-lasting product, and high end technology which *could* give you an edge. But, it's not going to buy you driving skill. That's up to you.

what's the point of two time trials.. if you think you'll lose because someone has $1600 setup and you just see no point in going against him, then don't play.
i'll suck balls with my wheels.. i'll still play.

Well there's much more that goes into taking good photos than racing a good lap in a video game.
Spending that money doesn't automatically make you a better player, no. But with a little practice it's easy to become much better than any player with a controller.
Let me reference a much better analogy. Microsoft tried something a few years ago that allowed xbox live players to play against PC gamers online in the same FPS game. 360 users used the xbox controllers while pc gamers used a keyboard and mouse after a while the project was cancelled and no other games have come out since. The game was called shadowrun. The project was cancelled because the PC players with a keyboard and mouse destroyed the xbox players that used a controller. The same will happen with a steering wheel and pedals vs a controller.

"I've heard from reliable sources that during the development they brought together the best console gamers to play mediocre PC gamers at the same game... and guess what happened? They pitted console gamers with their "console" controller, against PC gamers with their keyboard and mouse."
Unfortunately the precision of mouse aiming meant the PC players had something of an advantage.
"The console players got destroyed every time. So much so that it would be embarrassing to the XBOX team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative."

Yes but after a while when people post their times up they'll say that they did it with a controller to justify their higher time compared to others with a steering wheel so we might as well just have two challenges to begin with.

Damn, as soon as I saw the Murcielago on the blacktop and the Evo and the STi going at it, I knew it was the Top Gear test track!
And then I saw Jeff Gordon, Sebastien Loeb and Sebastian Vettel as what I assume were technical advisors... wow! For once, I really wish I had a PS3

The clutch worked only with a wheel that had one. Don't recall the controller having it.

It'll help out anyhow...no race involved when you pick those as religious icons. Although, Steve is white.

It's a huge shame though that they don't have the Kia Cee'd, Suzuki Liana, or Chevy Lacetti in the game. They dropped the ball big time on that one, cause I was looking forward to doing my own lap in the reasonably priced car, and I'm not the only TG fan who thinks so
I wonder if the dacia sandero is in GT5
