Does it really matter to Sony?

XBOX does well in 2 countries only: US and Canada.

Sony can push it to 2007 and they are still going to sell millions of PS3 units.

Why is that? I know the new MS machine has much more cost reduction in it than the original XBox. That and the game licensing structure has been revamped to reduce the time to good return. That and the fact that their only competition for nearly a year will be the old PS2 and XBox...the key is to make as much money as possible for a year until the PS3 is released. At that time, they will already have their next revision (cost reduction) out, and be able to drop the price to undercut the PS3.

That said, I'm sure the PS3 will really sell well in Japan. But then Microsoft it only looking at the NA market anyway, with a bit in Korea and Europe.

The only reason Xbox didn't outsell PS2 was because it was new and there weren't many games. Now it has a following and since it so closely mimmicks a computer all the modders will be drawn to it. Ever try to take apart a Sony PS2? It's like that shit is booby trapped. If Xbox 2 stays with the computer platform, spits out good cult hits like Halo, Ghost Recon, and every other shooter game they will blow PS2 out of the water. PS2 only advantage is their free online, Racing games, and GTA series. Other then that Xbox outperforms it. PLUS Xbox is probably a lot cheaper to build when you have one of the biggest software companies backing it.

Who cares I will probally have all 3 systems including the new nintendo system ill just probally have x box 2 with me in college.

 

I'm actually looking forward to what Nintendo will be doing more than the other two. It won't really matter which system will be better as I will have all three as well but supposedly Nintendo will have something revolutionary, hence the codename Revolution. In what way, we still have to find out. I find Nintendo's games generally more enjoyable than the other two's games. That's why I'm really looking forward to what they will come out with. PS2 is my least favorite system. Nintendo and MS will most likely have similar specs while Sony is suppose to be the most powerful of all. Nintendo and Sony are going to come out around the same time but MS will come out almost a whole year before. Anyway, next year will be a great year for new consoles. We'll see what these guys have planned in May at E3.

 

They better stop making new video games or when I get out of college I will probally never go to work just play video games all day.

PS2 is a much older platform. XBOX had better outperform in interms of hardware resources. New PS3 should be on par with and definitely out do XBOX2. Majority of games aside from halo you can get on PS2 anyway. Only thing holding back the PS2 is the hardware.

 

No, it will play umd's along with dvd, cd and blu-ray disks. Also that is a Photoshop. It has been discredited by many top name sources and websites.

 

You should hope so by being out a year later than XBox2.

Well, ps2 was out for quite sometime befor xbox was released. I think all console manufacturers are more prepared for impending releases. The key will be the development of games for PS2 that will take advantage of the new hardware in the graphics department. The criticism to date has been fair. The graphics are much better on the xbox. The game library on PS2 is top notch so it's just a matter of getting the better graphics imho.... i'm exclusive to ps2 because it's exclusive games only. Although i love the xbox mod capability SOCOM and Gran Turismo series aren't available on xbox.

xbox 2 will set the standards, ps3 will do better because it comes out later
just like how ps2 set the standards in 2000 , xbox used ps2 as the lowest standard to use
