Yes and no... The controllers are pressure sensitive, therefore, you could potentially turn without assuming the steering wheel has been turned completely. However, it is really sensitive and takes time getting used to.

It is the same case with acceleration and braking.

yeah I know what you mean mizouse... its just frustrating, like understeer x 1,000 in every vehicle. In Forza I was driving a stock mustang, so perhaps it will be somewhat better when I build a good car.

The steering wheel takes some getting used to, but I must say that this is one of the best racing sims to date. Some of these cars are BEASTS and will drive that way. Once you have an A-U class car... you will need to do some tuning to get it to drive right. Adjusting camber and stiffness in your sway bars and suspension can do wonders.

my beast is a 69 z28 all the upgrades, tires, brakes and all. it still drives like a beast.I have to lay on the brakes so much to get it to stop. but I think it is a A level car at like A755......!

maxed out!

I've been thinking about buying a 360 since they came out. I've been watching the feedback on the console. I've also been more recently researching the games when I came across Forenza 2.

I plan on getting the console in the next couple of weeks and will make F2 my first game purchase.

I have a 62" 1080p DLP HDTV and tested the 360 on it with my kid's friend's console that he brought over. That was the final straw that pushed me over the edge to get the 360.
I'll post back here when i get it finally. Meanwhile I'll just over all the discussions on this thread about it.

yea when i first got the driving force pro wheel for GT4 i had the hardest time with that, i kept under steering, over steering, slamming into the wall, etc.

i eventually got used to it, but then sold it to someone here on AZ cause i didnt quite have the room and set up for the wheel.

that and i want the new one with the 6 speed shifter

I bought the game yesterday, already completed 50% of arcade and 25% of the career, it seems to be getting a little redundant. The only thing that is keeping me from putting the controller down is the Achievement points, that and I love buying Hondas and Acuras, stripping them and making them handle really well, although I'm not having much luck with tuning up the suspension. Can anyone offer me any tips? I've got a few cars that need some suspension tweaks.

Another thing to point out is am I the only one who feels no sense of speed when driving? I mean I'll be going 200mph and it won't seem any different than100mph. Other than that the physics are similar to GT, but when you hit a wall you get knocked into the other direction, which irritates me. Say for instance you are taking a right turn and understeer causing you to hit the wall with the left side of your bumper. What will happen is you car will be jerked 180 degrees and you'll end up facing the people behind you, very irratating as this is sometimes a bit exagerated from what may happen in a real-life collision.

But the game is solid, just wished things weren't locked, it's irritating, I'd like to buy any car right from the get go, also I think it's lame that the cars that you are awarded only sell for 100Cr., other than that I think GT's set up of the driver's tests is a great idea, and it should be adapted into this game. And why isn't their a nitrous option in the game either?

Just got this yesterday. Awesome game.

I agree with you Eoanou, getting flipped backwards from hitting a wall is pretty weird. I just try not to crash.

6-Speed shifter would be nice. I wish I had the room for a good setup. Might just built a stand that is sort of height adjustable depending on whether I am in the room on a chair or living room on the couch.

Just got it yesterday as well. I've only played it for about an hour or so.

For the guys using the regular controller, do you guys drive manual or automatic? I was trying to drive stick, but I get caught looking at the speedometer too much to see when I need to shift. The engine sound isn't loud enough to decipher perfect time for switching gears without looking. So I just went back to automatic.

I roll with automatic. I also use ABS and TCS (but nothing else). There are a lot of hardcore guys out there who drive with all the aids off - which I think would be cool if you were in a real vehicle, or at the least had one of these cockpit setups. If I'm just going to be sitting on my floor with a beer and a regular controller, I figure I'll need a little help. I'm all about enjoying the game as opposed to frustrating myself into a nervous wreck.

I made it to level 26 without buying a single car or upgrade. Ended up with over $1 mil credits and I think around 33 prize cars.

After that I started buying cars and upgrading them as usual. I'm now on level 36. The hardest race for me so far has been the '65 Shelby Cobra factory-spec race. With factory stock tires the car feels like it's on ice, what a nightmare.

I'm almost regretting setting my region to Asia, because a lot of the high-spec races all feature the Italian big boys - F40, F50, Enzo, etc, and you have to compete. There isn't a way to win them from a race, most of them are locked until a higher level, and when they finally are unlocked they're like 200,000 credits or more a pop. If my region was Europe, they would all be discounted, or I might have won one as a level-up bonus. As it is now, I had to buy a Murciélago (Lambos were the only supercars unlocked when I bought it at level 34 or 35) and upgrade/tune the snot out of it. Great car.

I drive an auto with abs and tcs on. Like Deity said, I'm much more about just enjoying myself than being the most hardcore video game car driver around.

Deity, have you checked out the auction thing online? I picked up a couple cars there for $5k that would have cost $75k from the dealers.

I tried to do the auction thing but I only have an XBL Silver account, and I guess you need to have a Gold subscription to do that.

I can look at the auctions, but I can't buy or sell it seems.

I leave the abs and the tcs off with most cars so far. I'm sure as soon as I get some cars with power I'll have to turn on the tcs.

I'm on level 15, haven't bought a car. So far my favorite prize car is the Sparco Evo. Its a verrry nice

This one is a bit easier.

I was away in San Francisco for work for the past 3 weeks and I was dying to play this game. I finally got back and I'm very impressed so far. I'm now going through the grind building up enough credits to buy some nice cars.

^ as you win more races you start to get some really nice cars. I found that spending my money to upgrade the cars I won got me moving along faster than trying to buy cars.

I picked up a Gold subscription yesterday so I can get in on the auction house fun and try racing some folks online.

I am like 5K credits away from level 40. I swear this game is all I think about all day now. I'm even thinking of blowing off some social engagements so I can get some track time in. I sit here at work and think about what cars I can use for this series and that and plan out upgrades.

I just got the MS wheel and it rocks. It's much more fun than the controller. It's amazing how much feedback you get with that thing.

My Brother-in-law got this game yesterday and I had the chance to play it.

Graphics are good.
Sounds is good.
I like that there is damage now done to cars.

The huge gripe I have is the penalty system.

No matter what happens, ALL the penalties are leveraged against you, even if you didn't do anything.

There were times when the computer t-boned us after we spun out. but we were penalized, there were other times when the computer bumped us going around a turn, but we were penalized. the worst is you get bumped by the computer and get penalized, and after getting bumped if you touch the wall you get penalized some more.

They should have put more thought into the penalty system.

I good and simple fix would have been to have a meter that goes up as you incure more damage or hits. When it reaches a certain point, you're docked a second or whatever, rather than always penalizing you. This way if the computer bumps you a couple times, you're still ok.

Another extension of that is to increase the rate that meter goes up depending on how hard of an impact/bump is made. If you bump someone just slightly, the meter should only go up a little and so on.

My brother-in-law only had one complaint and that was that the controls were too sensitive. I felt the same, until I changed the button layout and I could control the car much better. I like the car system status a lot.

I won't rate the game yet until I've had more time to play it.

^ With the penalty system... when you bump into another car and it adds the red penalty time, dont you think it also adds it to that car bumped but you just cant see it?

From what my brother-in-law was telling me, the computer isn't docked, but we could be wrong.

And even still, why should both be docked if the other caused it?

It just affects your final lap time right? You can still win the race.

I agree it kinda sucks when you get rear ended and penalized but I don't think it's that big a deal.

^^^ yea it does dock you for laptime, but if there's a close race it still sucks.

AND, if you get bumped by another person and your car sustains damage, you are docked a certain amount of credits out of your winnings as well. So it's a two fold penalty.

Just bugs me that's all.

Speaking of bumping and accidents etc. When you lose a race and try it over and over again, its usually always the same car that you lose to. So finally right of the start I side swiped him and caused a major accident. It is one of the funniest replays I've ever seen. Cars just keep on piling up, and you can actually see the damage.

Whenever we messed up, we'd do the normal GTA style crash. Drive backwards full speed and ram the oncoming cars. oh man was it hilarious. That's when we had the brilliant idea of why they didn't add driver commentary. Imagine the other drivers chewing you out and stuff.

I do that too

I let the other guy get ahead of me at the start, then ram him on the first turn. If you do it right it doesn't damage you too much and you get a nice head start.

oh and at 'usually always'
