How long until the motion controller becomes old? I can't see these fat kids being able to swing the controller for a very long time.

Just saw a Wii kiosk at Target... the games looked terrible, graphics looked like they were from N64. Also in all of the demonstrations its a 14 year old girl playing the games. I'm not posting just to knock it... I was in there thinking about buying one... but the kiosk really made me change my mind. Especially with the ps3 kiosk next to it.

I'm not getting the Wii for it's stunning 480p graphics. I just want it to play Zelda and Metroid....
I'll pick up a PS3 for serious gaming once the revisions come out and the price drops after blueray bombs.
On that note, is anyone going to wait for more than 3 hours in line for this thing?

^ yeah, I know its not on par with ps3 for graphics...but it was much worse than I expected. Maybe the demos were just crappy... that red steel game looks pretty good.

An I'm sure you all know that composite looks like shit on an hdtv compared to it on an SDTV.

Ok so I took my lil bro for midnite launch at EB since he pre ordered it. Heres some pics.
Reviews.
I only played WII sports and that was a lot of fun. The whole concept of the motion sensor controllers was a great idea. Tennis and Golf were so much fun. The graphics however suck they do not compete with 360 or PS3. But the gameplay is really fun. Plus you can dl old school video games. Anyways its a good console better than gamecube. It feels like N64 its something to get excited about from nintendo once again.

SUCCESS!!! Went to my local Best Buy, but saw a long line. So, since I checked online last night and saw that Target was getting 81 consoles, I went there instead. They're right across the street from BB. I didn't know how many BB was getting, so I took my chance with Target. I was #71. Only got Zelda with it.
That remote thingy is an amazing concept! I'm gonna enjoy this thing. Even my girlfriend love it(she don't really play vg's).
My only disappointment? Every website I checked, said it comes with A/V multi-out
for composite, s-video, and component. It only come with composite. There is a component cable available, but that's extra $ from Nintendo.
I need, component!!

I got 2 Wii's last night with 2 Zelda's extra remote and Nunchuk along with Red Steel.
Half is going on eBay
I can say I like the concept of the remote a lot. Though it's not as smooth and responsive as I thought it would be I'm sure they'll keep improving it through downloaded revisions.
Graphics are like the Cube... Didn't expect much more when playing it on my 720p DLP. I'm going to try it out on my 24in Computer Monitor once I get the right audio adapter.

i got screwed... i was at Target and they had 120... I ended up being 125... then i went to best buy which supposedly had 10. I was 6 in line there. Then the manager showed up and said they didnt have any... We assume the employees fucked us and bought them all up beforehand.
Hopefully i luck out and find one somewhere later this week...

Graphics were pretty much what I expected. Gamecube graphics for zelda since it's pretty much the cube version with Wii controls.
Wii sports: as simple as the graphics are on that, it's actually much cleaner (less jaggies) than zelda.
as stated by many other reviewers once you get into the game you dont' even notice the graphics. It's a lot of fun.

Yet, there were 152 for sale on DC Craigslist by 2pm I'm just gonna wait until they get more units in.. Best Buy said they may get some more before the end of the week

I was actually half contemplating picking one up just for shits and giggles. Then I saw it and realized that with a few exceptions (like Zelda), the graphics are just terrible, so I decided against it. I'll stick with my 360 and PS3 (whenever I pick one up).
On a good note I saw both an HD-DVD and BluRay demo in the local Best Buy and the BluRay demo blew away the HD-DVD demo IMO. It looked so sick on a 1080p set. The BluRay player was Samsung, I think the HD-DVD player was Toshiba (not 100% sure on that)...

Isnt Blu-Ray capable of holding 140 or 160 gig on the high end vs 60gig or so for HD-DVD?
anyways... i am still looking for a Wii... Anyone know when the second round of shipments go out? I know most of the stores had their Wii's in hand about a week ago, they just could not sell them til yesterday. So i would think if the second shipment was a week later, they could start popping up as soon as tuesday or wendsday this week... I dont want to go on black friday...

My only disappointment, i need the system... I bought the cable last week when Nintendo had them available on their site in the morning... So i have a cable in hand but no system to plug them into...

I was surprised that Target had more than any of these other places...

^ FWIW, the CompUSA down here got a bunch also... and since most people didn't think to check there, people were getting them pretty easily. A neighbor of mine walked in, bought one for his kids for Christmas, and walked out. Said the lines were no longer then a usual Sunday, which in CompUSA, isn't very long...

after getting screwed at Target i went to the nearby Compusa... i was 6 in line there... The guys in front of me said they had called and we told they would have 10 units...
Later the manager showed up a hour or so before opening and said they dont have any... I assume they got them in and then the employees bought them up...

Well it looks like i am slowly going to build my own Wii...
I went to Circuit City and they had 1 Wii remote left and 1 copy of Zelda, i grabbed them both since I had been hearing they are both hard to find. No nunchucks though...
so i got a extra remote, zelda and component cables... all i need now is a console and extra nunchuk...
