yeah they are realeasing twilight princess on Wii launch day, then releasing it on gamecube 10 days later . Kinda shitty way to sell some extra units imo. But you still won't get MP3:C on cube. If they pull off the FPS scheme, and it works well then I won't give a damn.

I got my pre order. I was the last in line and I showed up almost an hour and a half before the store opened.

:sigh: I didn't realise how much it was going to cost for the games and the system and an extra controller.. ah well at least I'll be getting one and not have to wait.

The people in line had to turn away at least 15 people who got there after me. I honestly think the Wii is going to sell out on launch day, if not from preorders alone.

I was amazed at how many people were pre-ordering the Wii today. There were definitely more people in line than when I pre-ordered the PS3 on Tuesday.

I showed up at 7:45am and there were already 16 people in line since 5am. I showed up at 9:30am for the PS3 this past Tuesday and was #12. Fortunately they had 29 Wii's available for pre-order.

I was pretty surprised about how many people were in line too. Fortunately the manager guy told us how manythey had as soon as he got here so the line never got bigger than how many units they had once he arrived.

The manager even bought everyone standing in line fresh bagels and spread from a nearby bagel shop. It was pretty cold out so they were pretty refreshing.

I htink the reason so many people were standign in line was because the ps3 pre-sold out so fast that people were probably worried the same thing would happen with Wii. If these pre-order lines are any indication of the overall future sales of the Wii then I think nintendo has struck gold.

By the time the store opened, there were probably 40 people in line. Unfortunately they had to get turned away after the manager took a head count of people in line. I felt bad since most of them were parents who figured they could drive up 20 minutes prior to the store open to get one.

Spending 2 1/4 hours in line now compared to trying to hunt for one launch day was worth it.

I've waited in line longer than that for a freaking rollercoaster at six flags. I figure the rollercoaster is a one time thing while the wii will last forever.

and what sigmachi said, better than running around on launch day trying to find one.

True, but apples and oranges. When you go to a theme park, the lines are part of the experience. Waking up at 5am to beat the rush to the store to get on line to spend $350 on a video game system can't even be compared. That's just crazy

true, but I only waited for a little over an hour. no way in hell I'd wake up at 5am. I'd say 2 hours is my absolute limit for something like this, and that's pushing it.

I'm just breaking chops. When the PS2 came out I drove to a mall about 40 minutes away (each way) to get it b/c I had a hook up for the pre-order in that mall. I was there at like 8am... then came home and played it all day. Did I mention I called in sick that day?

I guess those days are over for me. I will get one, just not right away....

I haven't spent a long time (8+ hours) playing a game (by myself) in probably over a year. I miss that, and hope zelda TP will do that for me.

not to mention I don't have much time on myt hands right now, so I relaly appreciate the casual gaming appeal of the wii.

Good deal for the SD cards I would get 2 of them since the internal memory for WII sucks.

Think you may be SOL. I thought they had another pre-order allotment this past weekend... but I haven't heard of any more coming up... and with November only 2 days away... not sure if there will be another one. If I hear of one, I'll post it here...

yeah i guess i just missed the ones for EB and toysrus... which kinda blows...

the thing is that I was reading Forbes or some other business article on Wii where they expected to have plenty of units available for the holiday season, that was based on the hardware being available months ago... If it goes like gamecube, i expect the initial surge, then 2-3 weeks later shipments popping up and being available.

When i got my Gamecube i was in Circuit City for something else and just asked, this was a week after the release... They said at first they were sold out, then a asst manager was walking by and over heard and he said they got a late shipment of 12 that day and asked what color i wanted...

I guess i was lucky, but i dont think it will be impossible to get, other than the openning week and then until a week or two before christmas...

based ont he preorders selling out I don't know. I'd say your best bet would be to find an electronics store that didn't take preorders.

On another note, apparently nintendo has another "big" secret about the Wii that has yet to be revealed and will be revelead sometime in november prior to launch.

I wonder what it could be.

If the secret was HD then nintendo would absolutly destroy the other consoles, but realistically it's probably not.

Technically nintendo hasn't even released the official specs yet, so it's still a posibility, if even a very small one. Maybe there will be 720p capabilities, but not 1080.

I think the Wii might win the next gen console wars. I like the price, the games, and the cool controller.

I'm actually sick of Sony, why don't they just name their next console something other than Playstation, you know?

PS3 might have a chance to take an early lead, but who knows if they will have enough units available to even do that...

The only time The PS3 will take the lead is at minumum a year from now when they've had enough time to produce units, and that's assuming that after launch the units hold together, and the games warrant the purchase.

No way that's even an option. The Wii does not output in HD resolution, so the only way it could support HD-DVD or BluRay would be if they completely redesigned the system to support HD output.

If you've ever taken a marketing class you'd know that brand recognition is the number one thing companies try to achieve. It's also something that is tough to do. Nintendo is actually the one taking the risk here by changing name of their systems each time they release. Microsoft has left tons of XBOX influence all over the 360 and Sony keeps it simple by just updating the number.... both very smart moves.

As for the Wii, I agree for now. The Wii will be the clear winner this holiday season. However, as the 360 finally gets some good titles and the Sony kicks PS3 production into overdrive next year I think you'll see Sony and Nintendo fighting it out 12-13 months from now. Keep in mind that historically Nintendo always has strong launches, then they fizzle out. It will be interesting to see if the Wii can keep the momentum most are expecting at launch and carry it through next year.

Actually, just a correction to my reply above. The actual name for the 360 is the XBOX 360... so MS didn't drop the XBOX moniker at all. It's just abbreviated that way by most. So they did the same thing as Sony and added numbers to the end but kept the XBOX wording b/c that is what people recognize.
