Well, guess different reviews have different comparisons . Still, even comparing it to an XBOX b/c that's how powerful it is sucks IMO. Nintendo's next-gen system is as powerful as its two main competitors last gen systems. Wow, sign me up. I'm sure they'll make a killing with the younger crowd, but older gamers will go 360 or PS3. I probably would have liked it if I was younger since back then I was a Nintendo fan (until Sega took over), but not now.

I scanned my reply and can't find any mention of me saying they offer sports games only. If you find that reference, please point it out to me. I was simply using those examples since they were the ones mentioned in the article. I will say that I personally am only interested in sports games. Well, not only, but probably 90%. I'll get one or two driving games and maybe 1 shooter or so... but it's pretty much sports games both offline and online for me.

Sorry, that one made me crack up. Sorry, now I have the giggles. I was playing video games long before you were even baby batter in daddy's magic sack.

And I would never get a Gamecube. It was a facetious remark. As for the old school games. I have an emulator for every one of the systems you mentioned except the Gamecube (which I don't care about) and the N64 (because I still have my N64 as well as my Saturn and Dreamcast) on my "media machine" which is hooked up to my 50" Sammy and Home Theater receiver. So I stand by my statement that the Wii offers me nothing except a gimmicky controller. Again, that's just me, and I'm sure it will do very, very well... but not my cup of tea.

I can't belive you're comparing buing a videogame system to purchasing cable TV. They are two completely different forms of entertainment.

I said that because you only mentioned sports games in your post.

No way I'd sit in my house and pretend to play tennis or football with a controller like that. I'd rather be outside really doing it... and if I was to stay inside and play Madden or something, I'd rather button mash then look like an idiot dancing around the room after spending $450 or so total to do so...
...and linking facetious? You're an asshole.

Nope no DVI or HDMI for 360. PS3 will be the only system to support it. But I don't like HDMI that much.

That's what I thought.

My PS3 will be yummy when I hook it up via HDMI to my 1080p TV. Now, just need to decide which 1080p TV I want

I think Samsung is going to offer a 53inch LCD tv that supports 1080p. I don't know when the tv will come out but consult your local bestbuy or high end electronics store.

Good looking out but no thanks. More bang for the buck with DLP or LCoS technology. Plus, I'm not a big fan of LCDs and I'd never consult with Best Buy or similar stores for that info. Plenty of awesome AV boards online with a wealth of knowledge

True but DLP sucks. The viewing angles are horrible. I think LCDs are the best for gaming. But i guess it depends how many people are watching the TV at the same time.

DLP has a shorter life than LCD does. DLP has a bunch of moving mirrors in it to make it work. That scares me when you spending that amount of money. Granted most places offer an exteded warranty.. What generally happens right after the warranty runs out. Things start breaking...

i have a 50" Sony LCD Projection... no complaints here... i compared it side by side with the Samsung 50" DLP... my eyes prefered the Sony over the Samsung... sports, videogames, discovery channel are all amazing...

Never had a problem with my viewing angle.. and I've had as many as 8-10 people sitting and watching a game plus others up and around socializing while watching it... some from very hard angles (almost 90 degrees on either side)... never any problems. This may have been a problem with DLP's when they were first released, but I've never seen a problem on my, or anyone else's DLP what I've watched (probably 3 or 4 different brands)....

Link??

I've never seen any information that would indicate this to be true. Check out the manufacturers projected life on LCD's and DLP's and they are pretty much the exact same...

My set was purchased in May of 2005 and that is the set I'm referring to. Most of the other sets I talked about as well are owned by family and friends and were purchased around the same time as well.

Maybe pre-2005 models didn't have as good of a viewing angle? Not sure. I only started paying attention to DLP last year

Nope. There are the Sony's SXRD sets, plus several LCDs and even one or two plasmas out there... but be prepared to spend quite a bit of coin for the 1080p plasmas!!

There are even some high-end front projectiors (LCD and DLP) that are 1080p... but they cost a pretty penny as well...

This was what my friends neighbor was telling me when he was looking for a tv. I had no clue for the simple fact I am not currently looking for a tv.
This tells that the mirrors are moving parts.
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp.htm

Moving parts on a tv kind of scares me.

This shows that the lamp will last for 8,000 hours and costs 250 bucks to replace.

This shows that a lcd tv will last 60,000 hours

Nothing really to be scared about. Didn't the old Rear-Projection sets... you know, the ones with the big bases built-in have a some moving parts as well? I know people who have had those things for longer then I can remember with no problems. I don't think you'd have anything to worry about. Plus, DLP technology has been around for years. It's only recently (last couple of years) that it's made it into consumer electronics... so it's not like they just came up with this yesterday and started selling DLP sets. If it still scares you that there's moving parts in the set then it is what it is... but honestly, I wouldn't even think about it b/c it will last for a loooong time. I mean, cars have thousands of moving parts.. yet if they're built right... will last for decades and decades. So I wouldn't let that bother you just like it hasn't bothered millions of DLP owners world-wide.

And the links you gave showed the bulb life which is common knowledge as well as the standard 60k hours which is what is advertised for LCDs and Plasmas nowadays. That's not indicitive of the DLP TV life though. Anyone who buys a DLP knows (or should know) that the bulb is a wear item on these sets and will only last ~2-4 years depending on your TV habits. Not a big deal. Even if you replace the bulb 4 times over the course of say 8-16 years of owning the TV (total cost of $1000), you're still WAAAAAAY ahead of what the price for an equivilent size and resolution LCD TV would have cost you. But the DLP TV itself will last the same 60,000 hours, if not more since the bulb can be changed when it goes bad, but the LCD picture will eventually just fade and nothing can be replaced to fix it.

That I don't know as I'm not really a fan of the Wii, therefore, haven't followed it. Maybe one of the Nintendo guys can chime in...
