That's quite the rig you've spec'd out there. My only comment is to ask yourself seriously if you're ever going to actually drop the coin for a second 7800 video card. If you doubt it, then save the $100+ and get a non-SLI motherboard.

BTW - Is 140GB really going to be enough HD space in this day & age?

That ASUS motherboard is the first one out that is compatible for two X16 PCI Express cards. It doesn't downgrade the cards for X8. Although it doesn't make a huge difference now, it may in the future. Also, I do plan on upgrading to SLI as soon as I need it.

As far as hard drive space goes, I'm keeping my Athlon 64 3200+ with about 500 gigs which I will network. The new system is just going to have the latest and greatest games.

I'm going to wait about a week before I buy it as it is going to be a gift to myself for quitting smoking.

Awesome!

So, I may go with the 4800 Dualcore instead... not sure yet. Did you stripe or mirror your hard drives?

Stand alone. Didn't do either. These drives fly anyway.

This all depends on how you look at it.
I run a Dual Opteron machine on a Tyan K8WE that was out before the A8N32 and it also has 2, x16 slots when used in SLI mode. The board essentially has 2 northbridge chips supplying 20 lanes from each.
