when I was picking up Black Ops I saw someone playing the boxing game on Kinect. I could not believe the lag on that! Like half a second before the screen does what you did (what fun is that??). I just would have thought that in 2010, we would have come a little farther in terms of this kind of technology. It kind of reminded me of the Nintendo glove, from the 80's.

yea it does have noticable lag... doesnt quite seem like 1/2 a second though.

here's a good way to view both the user and screen at once.

i think over time, the games, and a few software updates will make this a very fun machine to have... (emphasis on the games)

yes..

live games.. which you can pause, rewind, fast forward and go back to live. (your standard DVR controls)

it shows EVERY game picked up by ESPN and also bigger games that they show on CBS and FOX.

this includes all sports.

How do you watch live games? I tried on Monday night to watch the football game but it wasn't there. All it had was past highlights and pregame analysis.

im assuming its b/c monday night football is on nationwide via cable. maybe..

and to search Live events.. go all the way to the left of the main menu when you enter.. once you click that.. it breaks it down by sport.

although when there are multiple live games on they will usually be featured on the home screen of the ESPN application.



EDIT: they advertise NFL on their website but it is not in the playlist via PC or XBOX at the time...

Also if you're watching a game, you can click up or down (I think) and get all the scores. Scroll through the scores and it will tell you 'Watch Now' or something in the little score box when you have that game highlighted. If you don't see that, no watchy.

Does the Halo Reach Bundle come with the Kinect gear?

I'm not liking Reach as much as I did Halo 3, and I'm not a fan of the Kinect or Wii either, so both suck IMHO.

Unless you are going to use the Kinect hardware regularly, it's a waste. Get the base kit, save the money for games.

Really? I had a lot of fun with Halo 3. Never played ODST or Reach, but I heard Reach was a lot of fun....with a number of people saying they liked it better than Halo 3.


I've had fun with Kinect the few times I've played with it....not sure if I would be completely in love with it, but I love the idea and technology, and I have a feeling that it's potential is barely tapped. That said, I'm not sure if I would play it enough till then to justify the purchase in hopes that some killer games come out of it.


The Halo Reach bundle is kind of cool.
Comes with the 'special' xbox (not a big deal, though I do like it), Halo Reach (obviously), headset, and 2 controllers instead of 1 with other typical bundles. It's $399. I figure that's a pretty decent deal just looking at it from the standpoint of how much it would be getting all that a la carte. And I was actually thinking about getting Reach here soon.

However, Reach is $34.99 at BB on Friday....

Other than the special lookin' gear, price out how much it would cost to get all that stuff separately compared to teh bundle. many times you can find that gear on sale and end up spending the same amount, sometimes less. But if you want the look of the reach bundle, then you gotta pay for it.

As for Reach vs Halo 3, it's hit and miss, you'll find some say they love it, others that have the same viewpoint as I do. If all your friends like it, then it'll be good beacause then you'll be able to get into a decent amount of big games with them in online play, otherwise always playing solo online can get boring. COD MW/MW2 are the only games I've found that I enjoy playing with a group or solo because unlike Halo, it requires a bit more strategy in some of the playlists like hardcore. IMO, the gameplay in Team Deathmatch in COD MW/MW2 is equivalent to pretty much any Halo game. Namely, run in and shoot, run in and shoot, chuck grenade, shoot. I guess I'm realizing that I'm liking FPS games that have a bit more realism to them.

Trust me, I've got the hang of Halo. Played enough of Halo, Halo 2, and Halo 3 to be used to it. The only big differences are the weapons and button setup.

Here is the synopsis for any Capture the Flag or Bomb game:

When on defense:

2, maybe 3 people on your team will stay behind and watch the base while the rest of the bungling idiots will either 1) drive around in warthogs that will get blown up killing all those inside, 2) go after the opposing team thinking the strategy is still to attain the highest kill count. Remember those 2 or 3 that stayed behind, well at least one of those idiots will be stupid enough to actually go after the guy that picks up the flag at its post or where the bomb is dropped while the other two on your team will chuck plasma grenades inadvertently sticking their teammate and killing everyone that got too close. Leaving the remaining 2 players, if they survived the grenade fiasco, at the base to fend off the entire opposing team because the rest of your team are still driving around in a warthog with a tire that's going wobble wobble or is on fire.

While on offense:

At the beginning of the round everyone scurries to the closest vehicle in hopes of using it to get to those special weapons scattered around the map. Regardless if vehicles are on the map, you'll find there will be that one idiot that gets pissed that he couldn't get that special weapon and will team kill you to get it. But when he does pick it up, the idiots in that warthog that should have been defending their base, blow up the team killer. There will be a pack of 3 or 4 of you that make a concerted effort to mobilize and try to win the round, but what will end up happening is that one guy in your squad that just runs in without the rest of your team and gets blown up because the other team stuck their teammate in the process of killing your teammate. This leaves you with 2 or 3 people to drop the bomb or capture the flag. If the bomb is dropped, it will either be quickly deactivated from the 2 guys remaining in the base, or if it's a flag game, it'll move a couple inches, be reset and you have to start over. All the while everyone is on the mic saying GET TO THEIR BASE or GET TO THE FLAG, but they're too busy yelling at each other for team killing or doing something stupid.

just an example of a bad team. happens to all of us... in every game.

i dont prefer objective gametypes, but if i happen to get stuck in one, having friends as teamates, or even strangers with mic's eliminates the problems above. (i know you said friends that play with you are scarce)

but also, halo reach's game physics are worlds apart from 1,2, and 3... gameplay is extremely different with the addition of armor abilities.

you cant run out in the middle of an open area expecting to kill people with a BR anymore. you have to adapt to the other team, and what abilities they use in EACH game. stickies and a clip from a needler are no longer sure kills.. people on the left right front and back? nope.. they are flying over you with jetpacks lol..

no matchmaking game is like the previous one i have to utilize several different strategies on the same maps.

this is what gives reach the edge to older versions, and longevity as well.

FYI, I was being quite sarcastic in my post.

The physics are greatly improved, and the improved eqiupment has improved the game play much compared to H3. Unless if you have a good team, strategy is pretty much non-existent making Halo Reach not as much fun when playing solo.

Only other 'meh' factor is with the Halo edition, I'd have to order it and wait for it to come in. Unless I pay $60 for next day shipping so I could get it Friday or possibly saturday, I would then be stuck with the xbox and none of my saved game content until I could get back to my parents and do the transfer. I'd be back around xmas. Not a huge deal. I don't play every day....but I think I might get suckered into playing a lot more all the sudden.

i just got done playing my kinect.

its FUGGIN AWESOME!

we played both 2 player local, and played some co-op stuff with a few of my friends over XBL

an absolute blast! and had us breaking a sweat pretty soon after start.
i have both the adventure and sports games... idk if i'll ever need any more games.

highly recommended.

my sister got a kinect/360 combo for xmas. She was wanting the Wii earlier this year but I told her months ago to forget that garbage Kinect was gonna be the bizomb and that as soon as she saw it she she'd forget all about the wii.
