I think you have 30 days to watch it then once you start it expires after 24hrs. Don't blame MS it's the content providers rules that they have to follow. The same rules apply for renting movies from iTunes.

Wrong it does expire. Again these aren't MS or Apple's rules but it's the same for both services. These rules are dictated by content providers.

Once you've started to watch the rental, you have 24 hours to finish watching the movie or 48 hours for TV rentals (even if you start watching before the download is complete). You can watch the rental as many times as you want within this 24 or 48-hour period.
The rental will expire when either the 30 day or 24-hour limit is reached for movies, or 48-hour limit is reached for TV rentals. Once the rental expires, the rental is automatically deleted. You must rent and download the movie or TV show again to view it after your rental has expired.
You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie or TV show on an iPhone, iPad1, iPod touch, or Apple TV1, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device.
On your device, the time remaining for you to finish watching the movie appears near the movie title.
You can only play your rented movies or TV Shows on the computer you rented it from and only if it is authorized to play your iTunes Store purchases and rentals.

Actually there is a difference between Apple and MS rules. On the Zune marketplace you only have 14 days to start watching it before it expires. Maybe the content providers wanted to tighten the rules even more after seeing the how the iTunes rental system was working. iTunes had video service before Zune did. I wonder if iTunes will go down to a 14 day expiration date in the future.
http://www.zune.net/en-US/legal/termsofservice.htm
There's also a difference within the iTunes store. In the Germany, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand you have 48hrs to watch the video after you start playing it instead of just 24hrs in the US.

b. VOD Content.
Effective on payment of the required fees, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited right and license, subject to the terms of this contract, to view and privately display in your territory for personal, non-commercial purposes only, either via an Xbox 360 console, a personal computer or a portable device, VOD content you obtain via the service. The initial license to each item of VOD content is limited in its term and duration to fourteen (14) days from the date and time of your order or twenty-four (24) hours from the start of its initial display and viewing, whichever occurs first, unless otherwise specified as being limited to different term at the time of purchase (the “VOD viewing time”). VOD content can only be displayed and viewed on the device you initially downloaded or streamed to; however, you may display and view VOD content downloaded to your personal computer on one portable device. Once you chose to display and view VOD content on your portable device downloaded from your personal computer, you cannot view such content on your personal computer. To stream VOD content you must be logged into the service. Upon the expiration of the VOD viewing time, you will no longer be able to view the VOD content without obtaining an additional license. Unless otherwise authorized in this contract, you may not copy or move the VOD content from its originally stored location.

I rented two right away with the plan to watch the second the next day. Something came up and I never got around to watching it. No reason I have to be forced to watch a rental. I can watch it at my leisure with netflix and if MS an itunes want my business, then they will change their rules. Since I know they could care less about my business, I will stick with netflix.

Again these aren't MS and Apple's rules, these are the rules dictated by the people that own the content. These are the same people that are now withholding dvd availability of new releases on Netflix by a month. You now have to wait a month to get a DVD on Netflix after it becomes available for purchase. This is because the content providers are afraid that netflix is eating into their DVD sales at $20 a pop so they made Netflix sign a deal that would delay the availability of these on Netflix DVDs by a month.
Well, I still have to pay MS or Itunes for the rental. So not totally their fault, and we don't have a content provider thread for me to rant in.

Should I buy a new Xbox or try to get my old one fixed? I wanna play Undead Nightmare! I think mine is pretty much fried, it either freezes up on the video or I get a grey screen in half english/japanese saying there's an error.

Nvm, games are freezing within a few minutes of start up. Sometimes it'll freeze during the boot logo, sometimes it'll play for a few minutes or it'll get to the home screen and then it'll go black.

Anyone try out kinect yet? I know my dad wants to get it, but I'm kinda advising against it for now. Main reason, I read on engadgets review that you need to be 6-8 feet away from the camera and have no obstructions, coffee table. We have a coffee table and our living room is kinda small. So thats our main problem.
