any of you Wii experts have any advice for me or any FYIs? what are some good games? Im not a big gamer, infact this is my first system since the original nintendo. can you play online like xbox360? do i need a seperate wireless unit or is built into the system?
i played the sports games it came with and it seems pretty fun but i can wait to get some real games for it. it also came with the Wii play bundle.

Wireless is built into the Wii, you just have to configure it. As for online play, most games have limited functionality and the interface is no where near Live's robustness. You have to use friend codes to play against someone else.
As for games, pick up Super Mario Galaxy this week, and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for some mindless shooting action.

And mario galaxy out this week
Was able to pick up a Wii at Toys R Us yesterday, they made us buy an extended warranty with it. Thankfully, now we have a present for my son. If you want a Wii at store price, just look at the Sunday adverts on Saturday. If a store has the Wii in it's ad, they should have them for sale Sunday morning. That's how it worked for us and Toys R Us, we also missed out at CC about two weeks ago.
and not sure if you guys have but you should pick up the free wiimote jackets. It has already saved a wiimote of mine from my nephew... here is the link....

need for speed carbon is fun but challenging
Godfather Blackhand edition is a pretty good game for violence
Man Hunt 2 just came out I am waiting on my copy so I can say anything on it yet
Marvel Ultimate Aliance is great for comic fans and semi-comic fans
Sonic and the secret of the rings is fun pretty fun

I still stand that unless you have super sweaty palms or just retarded your wiimote will stay in your hand without straps.
get the nyko wii recharging station runs like 35 and it has 2 rechargeable paks and stand that charges two wiimotes

well since you havent owned a console since original nintendo i suggest you get up on some of the older titles availible for download via virtual console TONS of great games so far and more being added. Since you said you have been out for a while puts you on a slight dissadvantage In that most titles nowadays are sequales and some games pretty much require you to have played the previous one. there are also tons of gamecube titles and the only thing you will need to play them on your wii is the game itself, a gamecube memory card and a gamecube controler.
I recommend buying a gamecube controler if you plan on buying gamecube games or not instead of buying the classic controler because nintendo stated early on anygame that uses classic controls you can use the gamecube controler as well.
Mortal Kombat Armageddon is pretty good
Resident evil 4 was a great game and they made a version for the wii but it semi falls in that sequaleness
spiderman 3 is pretty fun in looking back i find that the wii version must have been the best version because the most fun i had with the game was swining around the control set up is so nice. but the game was only not as fun because it was too simular to spidey 2 and had some of the same hangups. but since you have been out of gaming you will most likely enjoy it a lot more.
SSX blur again like spidey 3 most of my complaints about this game it was that it was too much like the last one in the envornment and i didnt like the changes the DID make this is the only wii game were i felt i wasted money. I felt half the controls were nice and well thought about but to do the special tricks (which are a necceity) it was pointless motions and "drawing" shapes on the screen which were not accuarate.
I have been told super mario strikers is very fun I have not personally played it though
what kind of games do you prefer?

well i love racing games espicially for xbox (always playin at freinds houses) sporting games are fun too. i never really got into zelda but i need to try it. my buddy was tellin me metroid was good so i might get that. resident evil is another possibility
what do you think about the light gun they sell on ebay, would this enhance the gaming expirience?
i didnt and probably wouldnt buy the light gun or any of the other countless attachments that make the controller look like other things it serves no real purpose and only add weight to the controls but thats me. the only add on i bought was a hard rubber grip so that when playing games where the controler is held sidways it fills your hands more and adds comfort. and i have some sleeves that cover and keep the controlers clean.
I thought need for speed carbon was good I did not play the last one the last one I played was underground. although the game is very hard or maybe i just sux at it?
I dont really see much of a point to buy regular sports games as the are just going to make another one the next year and the aim is always to make it more real. me personally I just say fuck it just turn on the tv and watch it. that said I do like games like NFL blitz and NBA JAM
the puzzles in both zelda and Metroid will be very challenging to those who have not played earlier games and both games have a lot of "OH SHIT!" momments that would simply be "uh-ok" or "huh?" to those who have not played the previous games.
but if you are considering playing red steel play that before Metroid while red steel is a pretty good game and has its good points its just wont compare to metriod so rent that one and buy metriod, you may want to play it mulitple times.

i must warn you with read steel. there is a part in the game where you must talk to people to start missions. DO NOT TALK TO THE SAME PERSON!!!! once you start a mission you have to finish it and it auto saves as soon as the mission starts i ended up doing the same mission 3 times becuase by the time i finished the mission i completly forgot who i talked to for the mission and since they say the same shit weather or not you have done the misson before hand i couldnt tell.
Surprised no one has said this ... but look into buying a Wii-key (wiikey.cn) ... best money I have ever saved. And yes, I have a modded Xbox and PS2, as well.
Rent -- Zack and Wiki ... that game just came out. It's kinda like Lemmings where you have to figure out how to finish a level ... highly addictive but so Japanese (the characters start to speak Japanese ... Capcom didn't bother converting the audio ... but translates well into English)
Madden '08 is not bad (so far) if you like football games. I'm still getting used to the controls.
I agree -- Metroid and Zelda are good ... but I get disoriented with Metroid somewhat easily so I have to stop playing after an hour. Red Steel can also be disorienting (even at 480P on a 42" screen). And I consider myself a gamer, too!
So far, my favourites have been Mario Strikers, Big Brain Academy (love beating my wife at that game), and no Zack & Wiki (may grow thin since I just downloaded it yesterday).
Hope that helps and have fun. PS3 and XBox360 are for a totally different demographic. At least with a Wii anybody (even my wife's 84-yr old grandma who doesn't speak English!) plays. Say that about the systems from Sony or Microsoft! The Wii maybe not as "hardcore" but definitely for the masses...

None of the new generation systems are must haves or worth paying top dollar for, I have all three and I think 360 is the best of the three, the only reason is because of the Halo 3 multiplayer. But until Halo 3 the 360 wasn't really worth buying, and neither is Wii or PS3, the Wii and PS3 have don't have any good games for them that isn't on Xbox, but the good thing about the Wii and PS3 is that they are both relatively new and game designers have yet to reach their capability, they will end up looking amazing, at least in the case for the PS3, no game uses more than 50% of its capability so you can expect big things from the PS3.
But Idk, I'm just saying games these days aren't as good as they used to be. There aren't any must haves and the must haves are only big online titles like Halo3. Halo3 isn't even a good single player game, if it weren't for its multiplayer it would be an average game.
