Help intalling ATI Radeon 9800 SE

So I got this card and am having a little trouble installing it....The card went in fine but its not powering the monitor on......I plugged it into its slot, plugged the power cable into the hard drive ( it suggested I do that) then plugged the cable into the power supply.....I turn on the computer but the monitor doesnt come on.....

check it out...http://www2.ati.com/manuals/r9800Getting_Started.pdf

It's possible it may be trying to use the DVI out. Of course, you can't confirm this, since you don't have DVI and hence you have no video. What I would do to test it is, put an older video card in that only has VGA - and see if this works with your monitor. If this works fine, then yes the ATI card may be bad. Did you even get to install the Radeon drivers? or no, because you never got a video signal...?

No never got a video signal. Im not sure what you mean by having a card that only has VGA...my old card was a GeForce 2 MX400....I put the GeForce back in and that card works fine....my guess is that the card is screwed up...

I mean, a card that doesn't have a DVI output. If your old card is working fine, it does sound like there is a problem with the ATI card. If for some reason you can't return it (where you bought it), you can deal with ATI directly to get it replaced with a working unit.

Go here and click on "Warranty Service Request"

just a suggestion.
