I was looking to possibly get an ATI radeon 9800 pro 128mb since I heard it's the best bang for the buck. I took a look on newegg and pricewatch and the cheapeast I saw was for like 160, but I think it was a generic model. Anybody know of a cheap place to get a real one? I don't want to spend any more than 200. Is this 9800pro still good?

oh and the 9800 pro is still an excellent card, still handles a lot of games w/ decent resolution and room for some eye candy.

 

Save some money, get the Radeon 9800 SE, overclock it and unlock the 4 pipelines

 

more info please. Also, I thought the PRO was the best of the 9800 series?



edit: ok, I just did some reading up on it. The article I read says that only some of the 9800se's are moddable in that way. So can I look for a serial # or series to ensure that I buy a model that is able to be unlocked?

Get the Geforce 6600GT.. It's a true DX9 card and the same price yet faster than the 9800pro in all games.
