Guilty Gear

Anyone fans of the series? Ever since I bought the first one on PS1, oh my God .. I immediately declared it the best fighting game I've ever played. The graphics were great for a 2D fighter, the fighting is so intense, the characters are ALL badass and demented. I loved everything about it.

A few years ago I bought GG: Isuka, and while the game overall is still an 8/10 .. I was still somewhat disappointed. The turn system is annoying, and worst of all, these fucking DareDevil matches are the hardest thing I've ever had to experience in a fighting game. 3 computer opponents against 1? You kidding me? Gah.

So I notice now that the series has grown a lot since Isuka, was wondering which is the best of the series so far. My friends main in Accent Core, but if there's any newer ones .. I should go research and buy. Despite my disappointment with Isuka, I'm still a huge fan of the series.

The last Guilty Gear I played was X2 for the original Xbox, so which ones are for 360 because I might invest.

AFAIK X2 is the only Xbox release; other system options include Wii, PSP, NinDS .. Probably not as good though.

I got so frustrated with Isuka's DareDevil 2vs1 challenges that I fucking shut the game off, walked to my car and spent 2 hours driving around town looking for Accent Core.

When I realized how hard it is to obtain such a gem, I went back home and Amazon'd it. Gaww. Stupid Sammy.

I wish they'd make a new one that I could play with on my 360 or PS3, I really don't want to play it on Wii.

Um...well, the PS3 is backwards compatible...just buy a PS2 version? Heck, they released a version for the Xbox too I believe.

Finally got it, found it a little too easy but of course, that can be fixed. Within 10 minutes I was up to the second-to-last stage.

But then again, I should mention that Isuka has always given me 2v1 challenges, so they made me a more intense gamer in terms of combos and use of techniques ..

^^ Try a PS2 version, you will be HOOKED. I couldn't get into Street Fighter, DOA, Fatal Fury, Tekken, Virtua Fighter .. Guilty Gear was the only one that had me playing everyday.

^ Really! But, GG is pretty much a SF rip-off!

Sure, the game's got some Samurai Shodown components but it plays very similarly to SF...

I'll agree with you there .. MANY things similar between the two series, however I just feel GG's characters are more diverse in their movesets. The "similarities" between the two are probably why GG isn't as big as it deserves to be.

Kinda like Seether .. they're a good band, but many people shun them because they sound too much like Nirvana .. I just like Seether's songs better though.

Ah. Well, both are pretty deep fighters IMO...they don't lend themselves to the button-masher types and do require some practice to master the techniques and etc.

However, I think GG didn't gather the same type of following probably because well, it just came one step too late esp. when SF and MK had the "brand" power...

Oh sorry I wasn't clear, the Guilty Gear X2 for xbox isn't BC with the 360, and I'd prefer the Xbox version.

Well certain characters on GG are more button masher friendly, for example and excuse me for forgetting her name, but the girl with the long Blond hair, is button masher friendly.

^^ Millia Rage, GG's main female. I personally haven't played her that much, but yeah you're basically right.

Now I've been a Ky main since the series started .. took me a while to get to and beat that bitch-ass I-no .. I use Dizzy for the first time ever, and she's difficult to use for the first two fights, but goddamn .. 15 minutes later, I was fighting I-No when it took twice the time to go through with Ky. Dizzy's a fucking combo beast!

.. She's also hot for a 3 year old.
