Favorite Retro Game?

i confess, im in love with my super nintendo. it was my first video game system and one of my favorites. theres alot of good memories attached to it, such as staying up late and playing chrono trigger, or being excited to get up early to play zelda w/ my friend. this makes me wonder what games you guys played back in the day and still enjoy now.

my favorites:

chrono trigger
zelda - a link to the past
final fantasy 6
break of fire 2
super mario rpg

old school role playing games are where its at for me. is my passion shared here or am i alone?

(Some) of my favorites:

Lord of the Rings (released on PC and several consoles in the early 90's)

It was like Zelda mixed with other RPGs, only better..

Aces of the Deep
(submarine game) The Silent Hunter series today is pretty close

X-Wing, TIE Fighter (star wars flight sim games)

Mario 2 (no time limit!!)

Daggerfall (one of the best RPGs for the PC ever) For those who played Oblivion or Morrowind, this came before those games. You might like it...

Civilization I and II (the others can go to hell)

Command and Conquer
series

Oh and basically any Sierra adventure game (Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest etc etc)

ZSNES emulator > *

Get a 10 dollar Gravis pad or something similar. Takes 10 seconds to set up.

If you like Mario World be sure to give Mario World 2 (Yoshi's Island) a shot.

I thought it would be :ghey: but it ended up being one of my favorite SNES games.
Super Castlevania is great too.

mario world 2 was a good game, even with the kiddy theme... but thats just how nintendo makes their games: cute and cuddly on the outside, good solid gameplay on the inside

orig nintendo:
mario, where you bounce on the turlte on the stairs to get 99 lives, and excita bike (spl?). at the time it was arcade graphics.

this may not fall into retro, but the first Resident Evil was one of the most memorable games for me. it was so different from what was out there at the time, and it freaked the sh*t out of us when playing through the night.

oh, and my definition of retro games are ATLEAST 3 generations old. so ps1 falls into that category, as do all the systems from that generation

Yes, you are correct about the PS3 being a 3rd generation system...However, in regards to age, the PS1 is only TWO generations ago...

I built a MAME earlier this year and was surprised to find that all the neighborhood kids love the old classic arcade games from the 70's and 80's as well as the old NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64 games. I still find time to play Galaga, Sinistar, Joust, Centipede and Tempest from time to time. Reminds me -- I need to keep searching eBay for a good arcade spinner for Tempest. It's just not the same using a trackball.

I can't believe I forgot!!!

Here's some great music considering it was written and performed for just a game. Need For Speed II...

NFSIISE Theme

Siwash Rock

Hell Bent For Lederhosen
Hell Bent was my personal favorite...

A few videos as well.

McLaren F1 Showcase The McLaren video gives me goosebumps every time I watch it, lol...

Lotus Esprit

Intro

I loved this game back when I was 8-10 years old. I can remember playing this hours on end and lusting after the cars. It brought back a lot of memories when I found these videos.

anyone remember that game with the green Jeep and the orange helicopter? The colors may be the other way around but I always forget the name of that game! Its a vertical side-scrolling shooter.... the helicopter would drop bombs while the jeep could shoot its machine gun.
