Oh man... there are too many to list.

Kung Fu
Metroid and Super Metroid
Zelda
Excite Bike
Mike Tyson's Punch Out
Kid Icarus

When I got a PC in 1992 or so...
Civilization (still my favorite)
Railroad Tycoon
Aces of the Pacific
Commanche
Wolfenstein
Dune 2
Warlords
Warcraft
D&D Shattered Sun
Kings Quest
Leisure Suit Larry
Tie Fighter

ugh... so many others! Good times

And finally Ultima Online- not as old but my first MMORPG and I spend many pissed off hours getting killed because of dial-up lag.

Hell yeah! 1946 Expansion Pack. That was too cool! I also played the hell out of Aces of Europe but that was a year later

I liked Luftwaffe but it was a bit complex for my 13 year old brain so I pretty much stuck to the Aces series

TMNT (NES)
Mario Kart (SNES)
Super Mario RPG (SNES)
The Donkey Kong Series (SNES)

I can play MegaMan 1-6 over and over again, I'm not sure if its considered retro but MegaMan 9 is awesome too.

Raiden!!!! The granddaddy of all vertical-scrolling airplane shooters.... at least that I know of. I could never decide which plane I wanted to be..... but my brother would always take the blue one.

There was another (side-to-side) scrolling shooter game that came before it I think, but it was nowhere near as fun as Raiden (IMO)

it was so balanced too. alot of modern games seem to have difficult spots then a length of easy stuff... dkc got progressivly harder as you got further into the game. the "bee levels" in dkc2 were fun too

If we're talking about games that wasted the most time in my childhood:

GoldenEye (N64)
Doom shareware (PC)
Legend of Zelda II (NES)
Dragonwarrior (NES)
Dune 2 (PC)
Duke Nukem 3d (PC)
Warcraft II (PC)

I can remember being up until 4AM playing Doom and Duke Nukem 3D over dial-up with a buddy, having rocket launcher wars. Now it all seems so ... quaint.

For me, it'd be a bit later and involve games like Quake and Quake 2...wow, were those online games great.

And the railgun...greatest FPS weapon ever made.

Of course, this would be taken over by my love for Zerg and Terrans afterwards...and oh, Age of Empires.

I can't possibly name one game..

Atari 2600:
Pac-man
Pitfall
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Atlantis

C64:
Beach Head 1 & 2
Way of the Exploding Fist
Grand Prix Circuit
Test Drive
Caveman Ugh-Lympics
California Games
Dark Castle

anything after this, I wouldn't consider "retro".

Whats dial-up? Is that when you hook up a can to another can with yarn???

Rocket Launcher? You mean you can play Halo through dial-up?!?!

I remember the days when I used to play SubSpace. I think its called Continuum now, or vice versa. Yes, on dial-up..... I don't think anyone here has played it, have they?

Defender had soooo many buttons...as a kid I couldn't handle all the smart bomb, thrust, hyperspace, fire buttons...it was nuts!
