Fan Utility for desktops?
Fan Utility for desktops?
I've been using this fan utility for all of my users dell laptops for the last 4 years. Its called I8fangui. Its pretty cool http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html
My question is, does anyone know of a similar program that can monitor desktops? I guess it would be difficult considering all the different motherboard and chipset manufactures, but I thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone knew...

I use SpeedFan for all my systems, works great, I just set the threshold for a senor and choose which fan should kick on for that sensor.
Also when its speeding up or slowing down the fan it does it by 5% every second so it kinda fades in and out without being noticeable.
and for my grafix card I use EVGA Precision, it works on most other models (i have bfg tech), and you can control your fan speed on that too if you have one.
If you set the limits and speed just right the fans will never go full speed unless the cpu is constantly 100% and making heat, so if ur sleeping in the same room as the pc its quiet throughout the night.
SpeedFan: <cite>www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
Evga Precision: http://www.evga.com/precision/
(in order to download evga precision, you have to register)
edit: just noticed you have a dell, in speedfan theres a dell compatibility thing in the options because not many older models work.
