Empire: Total War

For those who played Medieval Total War, Rome Total War or Shogun, you'll love this new one coming out in February!

Empire: Total War

18th century land/naval combat

Personally, I'm pumped. These games are fun, teach you a thing or two about the history of war and are addictive. Think Civilization series meets RTS (starcraft, warcraft etc)

There are important characters (who have traits, offspring and YOU can affect their history), unit building, civic building, economic decisions, technology, trade, exploration.

It definitely has some advanced moves, tactics and technologies that keep it quite realistic.

Even something as simple as researching different types of bayonets can influence a battle.

I'll post a review after a while, I'm still trying out everything.

Nein..

I am playing Prussia, having unified Germany by 1750 and I'm preparing to create the Greater German Reich by swallowing up the Netherlands, western Poland and all of Austria..

My official verdict

9/10

It seems to have a couple of minor bugs and sluggishness, I'm almost certain a patch will be out to fix this and bring it to 10/10

Anyone who has played Rome or Medieval Total War knows what to expect. Just add naval combat and a technology tree.

For those of you who played Civilization back in the day, hours would pass by without you know it, this is your game for 2009

per your review, I MUST play this game but unfortunately I think I may need to upgrade my system first. I doubt I can run this at an enjoyable setting.

You might, if you can play Rome or Medieval Total War, just reduce the graphics details. Maybe add a stick of RAM too

Since the campaign map is bigger (North America, Brazil, India, East Indies + Europe) and there are more nations in the game, it runs slower.

i picked mine up yesterday, it looks great! ive played every TW game since shogun, its going to take me a bit to get used to the mostly ranged infantry in this one and naval tactics.

i tried running it with every setting set to Ultra but it got sluggish on me but it looked amazing

goodbye social life lol

oh and i really hope they make a shogun 2 next
