aslo, not cutting down pc gamers... just never been one and dont understand it... been sitting behind a controller and t.v. since the NES days....

this is also a good reason i wouldnt be aware of steam... my computer is for web forums and photo/video editing.. my gaming is done with an xbox and ps3

IMO the biggest reason people play PC games is because of how much you can customize it. The are millions of mods out there, and some people just like the freedom to do what they want it the game. I would still rather play console systems, but occasionally I'll play CS 1.6, the only PC game I ever played regularly, on the computer just for shits and giggles.

 

FPS games on the PC > FPS games on console

 

IMO I prefer console FPS partly because it levels the playing field somewhat, at least more than PC does. There's still the "host" issue but when it came to PC, I've always played with an average/subpar computer with the graphics cranked down to a low level, and a regular mouse and keyboard. I never could figure out how to use the crazy gamer-oriented stuff. Plus I play better on console than I do with FPS

I wasn't very good at it, but I liked CoD2 on the PC because you could "lean" and peek out from behind corners.... and..... yeah

 

This isn't a 360 game! It's a 360, ps3, Wii and PC game!

For console games they have to slow down/change the game a bit because of that.

Afaik, no FPS games on the console play against PC gamers online.
If they could they would get slaughtered.

I wouldn't necessarily say less skills to play on PC.
Because the console and pc versions are programed differently.

If you give them a set of controllers then you're leveling the playing field.

The PC version is not the same as the console version. The console ones are slowed down to compensate for the gamepads, since you can't react as quickly.

It's also why you never see console players playing against pc players online.

 

The pc version takes a different set of skills than the console version.

No version is any easier than the other.

 

And were not talking about someone who plays on a PC normally and then jumps onto a console would be better than a person who plays on the console normally.

Were talking about 2 people playing together but one using a keyboard & mouse the other a controller. The person on the keyboard/mouse would have an unfair advantage.

IW officially killed this title for all us multiplayer PC gamers this week, announcing the horrible choices that they made in configuration:

No dedicated game servers
P2P match-making
Use of IWNET to automatially match players based upon skill and eliminate cheating (?)

I built a fast PC this summer, which came with World at War for free. Playing this and being able to use the mouse to aim has spoiled me. It's super annoying now to go back to the controller, even though I started out playing shooting games like SOCOM II on the PS2.

And having more control/easier aim on the PC just means that everyone else is better too. The distribution of skill is still about the same, but you can be better on PC because a game pad limits how well you can aim.

 

Who gives a crap? I've usually noticed PC games don't have aim assist.... whereas with Halo and CoD to a lesser extent, if you keep a bead on someone that's moving but not too far away, the cursor will kinda help you follow them.

It's bullshit because the 360 doesn't have dedicated game servers either. Basically whenever someone has host and they will have the advantage. There were too many times to count when I had a bead on someone, or was in their face and I shot them first but all of a sudden I die, and in the killcam it doesn't even show me shooting at all!

 

I care, because it irritates me not being able to put my crosshairs where I want them fast enough.
