i shall join you two next time i play!!! though i kinda sucks at free for all..
seems like i kill one and there's someone else behind me killing me...
so it's hard for me to go any better than 1 to 1 ratio

Anyone else sometimes just focus on completing a challenge/achievement so their score is nasty?

I am terrible with the riot shield but wanted to get all the damage points. Killed one guy through a martyrdom and died a bit over 30 times. Not impressive.

I only have that happen once in a while - remember there are only a max of 8 people on the same size map as you are doing the 18-20 whatever people TDM's. So aside from the fact that you kind of have your "regions" in TDM, there are technically the same number of enemies. And, you know even in TDM you can have an enemy spawn right behind you.

But in FFA definitely you do have to watch your back at all times. Gameplay wise I much prefer FFA because it eliminates confusion - kill anything that moves! haha. Sometimes in TDM the name indicator isn't there for some moments, and I'm not sure if its a foe and that sucks. Other times I get tripped up and there is an enemy right in front of me and I either miss him or it just doesn't occur to me to kill him . Also long distance shooting can be tough, because of having to differentiate between team members and foes and the names sometimes overlap the scenery and that is ANNOYING. Finally, as has been said sometimes you win because of your team members - and sometimes you lose. I much prefer being in total control of my score. After playing FFA for 2 weeks straight I went and tried TDM and could not stand it.

Since getting the javelin, I love killing aircraft - and I sometimes just focus on that - on some maps it's not so easy and I get gunned down many times - but I don't care, it's so fun to take them down. I've also noticed that the aircraft get shot down frequently nowdays, probably because more people have javelins. Now if I have a javelin handy and an aircraft comes out, I try to take it down ASAP. They are really a big nuisance!

Hey, does the Javelin not give you a kill when you shoot down an aircraft? I shot a couple down last night but the kill challenge for the Javelin still said 0 kills associated with it.

Ive only had one emergency airdrop so far and boy was it glorious - called in a chopper, pave low, harrier at once - also had a predator missile. Good incentive to get the killstreak, gonna try to focus on that from now on. But, I also enjoy the straight-up gunning for kills and score. M16 with FMJ is real fun.

as far as I know - no, you don't get a kill for downing aircraft with javelin, like on your score. but, it should register for the challenge. I think I remember getting a challenge complete for downed aircraft.

Thanks, I was getting them for the stinger/AT4-HS (can't recall which is the lock on only one) so thought I would for the javelin too.

another thing about FFA, I find it more 'realistic' BECAUSE there are no names on top of people. IIRC in TDM there are names above everyone's heads, even enemies as you get near them (in red). Annoying. So FFA has an added element of being able to hide and sneak. Also, teammates get in my way sometimes and that's annoying. And, I'm sure I get in their way too.

The best way to get the riot shield damage challenge is to equip it when the enemy has a harrier up, then shoot the harrier once or twice with your pistol to get its attention, and point the shield at it. The harrier will then shoot you for the rest of the time it's up. You'll also completely waste that person's harrier strike when you do it

The red names only appear when you are aimed directly over someone

Fairly sure you don't ever get "kills" for downing a aircraft no matter what the missile, but you do get xp points and a neat little popup that tells your team how much ass you are kicking (in cod4 it never even acknowledged it and it pissed me off).

The names show up in FFA too so I don't know what you're talking about.
I use it to puposely hunt you down

It's pretty easy to tell who is friend and who is foe, the cross hair turns green on friend and red on enemy. Unless you have cold blooded pro where it shows nothing

what you mean 2 - wouldn't it be unlimited if you just keep switching? or can you only switch once?

The best way to aim a claymore for me is to aim the claymore towards the inside of a room at a 45 degree angle so that if someone enters a door, it will explode on their back. Never point the red lines parallel to an entrance, you're claymore will miss.

You can plant two at any given time. If you try to plant a 3rd one, it will go down, but your first one will automatically explode. I suppose its good for a makeshift C4 if nothing else.

This is correct. The only time you get a "kill" for the weapon challenges is when you kill a person. The exception is with the Stinger which can only shoot vehicles/choppers.

Shooting down a chopper/harrier with anything but the stinger will only get you XP and the chopper down challenge.

I agree about the popup....I love how it tells me I got a headshot. A huge improvement from COD4.
