360, PS3, PC: Assassin's Creed II

Comes out tomorrow!

Anyone planning on getting it?
There was obvious let down with the first one, but I think they had the right idea. Maybe they improved with the second installation?

Here's to hoping.

I liked the first one. I didn't buy it though, just rented. I'll probably do the same or wait for it to get really cheap ~$20.

it looks really cool, and renaissance italy seems really intriguing.

still haven't played the first one but thought about getting it since it can be had for cheap (new and used). but i hear it's really repetitive. i've also heard #2 shouldn't be as repetitive as #1.

i think i'll get it eventually when i'm through with my backlog.

You should still play through 1.
It took about 1/2 to 2/3's of the way through the game till I realized that it's quite repetitive, but it's still a lot of fun regardless. I think that's why I didn't notice.

OXM reviewed it and said that they addressed many of the little gripes people had about the first one. Sounds promising.

1st one was a little repetitive, but yes, they did confirm that the mission structures have been totally revamped. You will not be going to "get" your missions anymore like the 1st one.

Either way, it was fun just slinking in and out of the crowds killing random people and seeing the reactions and the guards running around looking for you. I'd play each city for a few hours just doing that kind of stuff before actually moving on to the target.

I liked the first game, no matter how repetative it was. I liked how you can go everywhere and clinb anything. Story line was also very good, a big twist at the end and just the fact that you are controling your ancestor is very cool to me. I will get this game when it's a little cheaper, just got MW2, and I wanna get Forza 3 before this.

Picked this up today and been playing with it for the past 3 - 4 hours. Gameplay is a lot better than the first one, not repetitive at all.

The one thing I didn't like though is the controls. Altair was easier to control in the first one. Now your character is like a hyperactive monkey, jumping everywhere when you're trying to climb etc.

I had that problem too, but I finally learned not to hold down the jump button when climbing unless I was trying to do the jump on purpose.

I loved the game, but I'm still trying to get the feathers to get the last weapon and cape. I can't wait for the next one as it seems it will be in modern times.

Anyone else playing this? I am loving it, so much to do this time around. It has its quirks like the first game, but they are barely noticeable as long as you think about what you are doing. The puzzles are pretty cool too.

I've been playing it a ton over winter break.

Really fun game and very nice atmosphere. Not nearly as repetitive as the first one (although certain tasks still feel tedious).

One problem I have with the game though is the money system. After unlocking the Monteriggioni villa money comes in so easily there is nothing to work towards. I currently have over 200K Florins without any effort. There is no point in money if you can buy everything with without the need to ration.

Also, it would be nice to get out of the animus more often. Three times is not enough.

Overall it's a really well made and fun game. Can't wait till the third one comes out.

It was 3am this morning when I got to the point where I unlocked the Villa, my mind could not process what to do next. But that does suck if the money comes in that much. I was happy just treasure hunting and pick-pocketing groups of people to earn cash.

I love doing all the side stuff first. I buy the maps on each town and find all the chests, do all the viewpoints and all other misc. crap before I even start the mission. It's much better than the first in this regard. Just navigating the rooftops is 100 times better. So much to look at and explore.

I do the same. First thing I do is complete everything on a map before I start the plot missions. Now, the money from the villa doesn't deposit directly in you pocket. Instead it goes into a chest. You could always purposefully avoid picking up the money from the chest, if you rather just pickpocket the whole time.

Wow, you weren't joking. I did almost every upgrade to the Villa except put paintings on the wall and I was making crazy amounts of money. Oh, and dual hidden-blade assassinations are too fucking cool.

3am again this morning, this game is killing me

This is the 30 minute prologue to Assassin's Creed 2 for those who haven't already seen it. Pretty cool. I recommend watching it in high quality. All the actors look just like their video game counter parts (except Ezio, he looks nothing alike).

Wow, I found my favorite town: Forli. As soon as I entered, I thought it was one of those flashbacks where you can't do anything but walk, it was so creepy and moody. The atmosphere and music are perfect. Feels like you're in a ghost town.

Anyone find all the glyphs yet? I need 7 or 8 more I think

Finished the game awhile back, I'm at 96% synched. There's a couple of feathers I can't get too.

I have all the glyphs, the puzzles are fun, nice change of pace.

Last Tomb was a doozie, it took me numerous times to solve it. Second time I tried it, I solved it in one try. I'm still trying to spoiler: still trying to look for the giant squid that is supposedly in the last tomb. spoiler.

I can't wait for Ubisoft to release the DLC to unlock the city south of Firenza.

Just finished the game with 100%.

Great game.

I just hope the fix the controls on the next one. I can't tell you how many times I had to restart a mission because Ezio refused to jump the direction I told him to.

Sounds like they really improved on this one.

I want to get it, but I know I have several other games that I need (want) to work on and finish before I get anything else. With school starting back up soon, who knows when that'll be.

Had this game for a few weeks now but finally just got around to playing it last night. I am only at 15% syncronization but I am having a blast just running around with my band of mercs killing guards and lootin treasure. In the famous words of Mr. President, "I'M RIIIICCCCHHHH B********CCCHHHHH"

Don't know what % I am at now but I think I am pretty far. I am in Venice and I have 5/6 seals. I just did the St Marks Basilica last night, I felt like I was playing tomb raider lol

Overall I am really enjoying this game. The storyline is great, I love the gameplay, I enjoy the puzzles for a change of pace, heck I even like reading all the database stuff on the people and places.

Sorry for the bump, but I just picked this game up since I got a 360 for xmas and GameStop was having a deal on used games. LOVE IT! Whenever I finish this I plan on picking up the 3rd one. The IGN review said #3 is essentially #2.5 which works for me since it continues the #2 storyline.

I forgot I created this thread.

I actually just picked it up myself a few weeks ago. Like it a lot better than the first. Doesn't seem as repetitive and seems like there are more things to do.

The only thing that I don't care too terribly much for, is it seems like you hardly get a chance to explore a city and learn where everything is or even get the map revealed through the look out points before it moves you to another city. Maybe I'm just blowing through the main quest to fast? I guess I could always just put a halt on that and explore all the cities and doing all the little side quests.

Overall though, I love it.

Plan on get Brotherhood once i finish this one.

You need to stop doing the missions.. I went through each city (as I got access to them) and got all viewpoints/treasures. I then got the glyphs and assassin tombs next. Then intermediately I'd do the main mission.

Beat the entire game in around 38 hours of game play Picked it up last Monday, and have been enjoying my time off from work. Gotta finish one last part of the CPA exam then I'll be purchasing AC3 to waste more of my life.
