I never played the first one and honestly never even saw more than a minute or so of footage from it. I just had to make a this L4D 2 thread though because this trailer is dripping with awesomeness. It's better than many movie trailers.

Anyone else play the demo?

It was funny how VALVe delayed the demo a few times, and everyone on the forums went haywire and complaining that they either took off work or skipped school for it.

But, I was playing the demo, VALVe has a lot of things to fix, not sure if they're gonna have it ready by their designated date in November. We'll see, but so far, the game was very fun. The new guns are awesome, auto sniper, desert eagle, chrome shotgun, spas-12, the tri-burst rifle, the frying pan etc etc.

I watched a couple of clips from the demo that people uploaded to Youtube. They actually gave me reservations about getting the game. You could see your NPC allies highlighted behind solid objects as if you were wearing some sort of HUD device which seems completely out of place. Additionally, your own character as well as the NPC's were announcing "reloading!" about every five seconds. Annoying as hell. Also the zombies seemed just as fast as normal humans which is the opposite of most every bit of zombie mythos I've ever seen.

 

I thought the first game was incredibly repetitive. It's a major step down from Valve's work on Half Life 2. I won't be buying it.

 

That trailer is pretty awesome. I might get it. I agree that L4D was pretty repetitive though.... they needed more levels, and more weapons.

Well, that's the point. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, then you don't.

The game's good if you want just hours upon hours of slaughter.

 

Co-op play was very fun. I will be picking this up for sure, just not right away.

 

Holy shit, this game is HARD.

My roommate and I don't suck, and we usually breeze through L4D1 on Advanced and can play Expert. But omg, the new one is really hardcore. There are zombies coming out of doors, coming out of windows, coming out of airvents, coming out of your ass... The SI show up all the time, I had two chargers at once and then later two smokers within 30 seconds. In the demo the spitter was a joke, but now she'll kick your ass. I had to downgrade to Normal difficulty and the ending was still a frantic fight to the finish.

The crescendo events are also much, much more difficult, and I won't spoil anything but you can no longer just sit around and kill waves of zombies coming at you. I've only played the first campaign and my hands are still shaking with the adrenaline.

I was unimpressed with the demo, but, I guess that's why it's a demo. Controls felt a little off compared to the first one.

 

Katanna is hella fun to use and realism on expert is hard. Head shots only to kill the zombies but one katanna can kill them. Also, its funny watching a tank get beaten up by a jockey due to the bile bomb.

I was a launch customer for L4D and I pre-ordered L4D2 as well.

I think its too little too late. I couldn't finish my first round of L4D2 because I felt it was too boring. Maybe I played out L4D back in the day, but this game is a let down. I don't know what I was expecting.

 

I have L4D, Ive honestly only played it 3 times, i went back to COD4 instead.

 

Same deal here! this game is friggin hard compared to the first one, but so much fun. I think you really have to appreciate the combination of a zombie and a combat shotgun in order to really love this game.
