is anyone having some trouble connecting to multiplayer games? I have trouble, but once i find one that works, its fine (and fun as hell)

 

ya, it's a bit buggy. i can't connect to 3 outta 5 ranked matches, and probably 2 outta 5 player matches.

 

Tried the game yesterday...all I can say is "Holy fawking wow."

the graphics and gameplay were so realistic i felt like i actually got alien blood on me when i sawed his face the bayonet thing

Just picked up up as well. Its great. But it ain't that easy. For me at least.

 

I really need to get used to not having an aiming reticle that is always on the screen.

finally bought xbox 360 and this game...and its UNBELIEVABLE how amazing it is. First time I'm playing a high def game on my lcd tv, and its spectacular. 5.1 audio is also just stunning...

 

Xbox Live will probably get overcrowded on Thursday, since Microsoft decided to let loose two new multiplayer maps for the heavily praised third-person tactical shooter.

Discovery Channel will also be giving away “an unprecedented” 2 million Microsoft Points ($25,000) that can be used to purchase Xbox Live Marketplace content. There will be multiple winners (i.e., there won't be just one person that receives 25 grand to spend on the Marketplace).

The two new multiplayer maps are called Raven Down and Old Bones.

Raven Down: A Raven Helicopter has gone down in the middle of a large scale battle with the omnipresent Locust Horde. Gears have taken out the Seeder and gamers join Delta Forces moving into the crash site from all angles to search for survivors.

Old Bones: In an attempt to eradicate any traces of human history and culture, the Locust Horde has emerged under Sera’s Capitaline Museums and has begun to destroy them brick by brick. Each gamer’s mission is to help the Delta Force recapture the museums before all remnants of humankind’s existence are obliterated.

A patch is also slated from the developers of GoW, with Gears of War forums reporting these new features included in the patch:

* Fixed aspect ratio distortion when using VGA cable with 4:3 displays at resolutions higher than 640x480
* Fixed voice issue with new players joining Player Match games in progress
* Players can now get the Achievement for "Dish Best Served Cold" when using Troika turret to kill RAAM
* Fixed rare situation where host could loop countdown and never start match
* Fixed rare situation where players could get stuck after chainsawing in multiplayer
* Reduced Grenade Tag melee distance
* Enabled “Strict” NAT check on host to prevent possible connection issues
* Optimized server browser queries to return results more quickly and prevent scroll bars from hiding quality of service icons
* Reduced number of possible revives in Execution to match Warzone
* Removed host name from Ranked match server browser
* Disabled security cameras in Ranked matches
* Ranked matches now require balanced teams (3v3 or 4v4)
* Increased penalty for quitting a Ranked match to -50 points
* Added additional cheat detection code
* Additional housekeeping updates

Wow... last post before this Jan. 9, 2007. I just got around to finishing the story mode for this game, but in my defense FFXII did come out like 2 days after. I just don't have the time to play like I used too :-(

I just beat it on casual...a lot of fun but it seemed short...I'll try hardcore and insane sometime

 

casual is way easy. Try hardcore first with a friend...definately much harder. Insane is well...insane

 

I beat it on Casual a while back, my brother and I got pretty far in it on Hardcore, but hasn't been back to my house to finish it. I may go ahead and finish it on my own. Very short game though. After I killed RAAM, I was pretty suprised (and a little dissapointed) that the game was over already. But as short as it was, still the BEST X360 game I have.

 

Anyone still play online. I suck but try and get on live every now and again.
