Angry PSP problems

Actually I think I've narrowed it down to memory stick problems. I got a Sandisk 4GB memory stick for christmas. I have approximately 8 or 9 saved games on it. Nothing else.
Recently, whenever I put a new game in, it tells me there is not enough space to save anything. I put my memory card into another PSP, and the same thing.
When I go to the main screen , it says I have 3900MB of space available.

Has anybody heard of this happening before?

Does turning the power off in the middle of game eventually ruin the memory stick?

Any input would be appreciated. Should I just scrap this one and go buy another?
This one cost around $70, I really don't want to buy another, but if mine can't be fixed I will.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I did reformat, then put in one of the games giving me problems, and it said the same thing. Something about needing 128kb of available space.
That was with a blank 4gig card

What exactly does that do? I'm not real knowledgeable on these.
would shutting off the power in the middle of a game damage the card?

well if the psp changes a setting or errors setting it bak to default can sometimes help

as for the shutting down thing... it shouldnt matter cuz it pauses the game right?

yea, pretty much. You just pick right back up from where you were when it was turned off.

Should I have my memory stick in when I reset to default?

Sounds like a bad memory card. That card should have a 5 year warranty. Contact SANdisk.

Also, you could always buy a new one online as they are pretty cheap now.

4GB for $30
8GB for $60

Check out bensbargains.net and search for Pro Duo

I emailed sandisk. they got right back to me. I tried a couple of things they suggested and still no luck. I just found the receipt, bought it the day after x-mas. lets see if they let me return it.

O.K., I'm lost Exchanged memory card for a brand new one, put it in, put in the same game that has been giving me problems, and the first thing it said was insufficient space
The game in question is Lego Star Wars.
It worked in two other PSP's, until my card was put in those two along with the game. As soon as my card and the game went into another PSP it wouldn't work.

truaznballa25 & Ashburner, thanks for your input/ideas. Any other thoughts?
