However, the 1995 Ford Escort I drove several times while working for Hertz was horrible in every respect. It accelerated, handled, braked horribly and lost almost all of its accelerative prowess by 75mph. It was also noisy and the engine had to be the thrashiest four cylinder on the planet, making mid-90s Hyundai and Saturn inline 4s seem Honda-like by comparison.

It was funny. I borrowed the X5 for a week. Day 1 I thought it was cool, Day 2 I thought the gas gauge should be higher and the parking spots were too small, by Day 3 I wanted it to be Day 7. I cant imagine driving something that big day in and day out.

ah speaking of Honda Accords I drove an 86 with fubared motor mounts - every time you took off from a stop the whole car would shake violently, a clutch pedal that was hard as hell, and I shit you not, the lightest steering I've ever felt. Clutch fluid was probably never changed, and it felt like that round thing with the harness inside the steering wheel was broken or something. I could literally do a u-turn with just my pinky.

it's a toss between the
BMW 318ti- felt like it was going to fall apart on me while i drove it.
2005 Pontiac Grand Am- i swear GM uses sand paper as brake pads on this thing. makes the worst sound when coming to a stop. our dealership was packed with these things. all of them had the same horrible brakes.
any J-body Chevrolet Cavalier- worst car made within the last 10 years. easy.
Chevrolet Cobalt- can't believe this is a new car. e-brake location on this thing is horrid.
they all make my TL feel like a million bucks.

My '88 Accord drove better than most newer cars and was actually very quiet on the freeway too.

It only died about a year ago after the timing belt broke and the engine was fubar.
Toss in a B18 motor or maybe a H22 from a Prelude

In many ways I miss that old Accord. Good gas mileage, decent handling with excellent steering feel. Light and tossable around corners. Perfect visibility, it was like driving a fighter plane
However..
2500 pounds with little sheet metal = instant death

Still very light at higher speeds too. It wasn't a poorly-made car, but it was very poorly maintained, so it pretty much was a POS.

shittiest car i ever drove was my ex-girlfriends kia rio. that was one small car that went nowhere fast. i was trying to merge onto the highway one time in it and i didn't think we would be able to go fast enough to do so, only had 2 other people in the car.

I hate anything that can't handle well. I really don't care about power, I was happy with my 99 civic ex's 1.6l d16y8- it was stock, had ~130k miles on it when it was stolen, and was faster in the twisties than my TSX. Or at least it felt like it was (civic was stolen days after I bought the tsx)

I don't find the Corolla too bad of a car unless its in unusually crappy condition, or if its one of those 80's or early 90's models. I learned to drive on a ~95 Corolla and I think it was one of the most ideal cars to learn on. Easy to control, not too much power, not lacking in the important options and not excessive in the luxuries....

A toss up between a 1991 Corolla or 1991 Ford Taurus Station wagon.
My 1991 Corolla, would have been an almost alright car if it was big enough for a 6' tall person and if my foot wouldn't hit both pedals at the same time because they were too close together.
The Ford was the biggest piece of junk I have driven but that could have been for many reasons. The electrical system was screwed up and the battery would die all of the time. One time it died while I was going around a turn, I lost power steering and almost took out a mailbox.
The only good things about these cars was that my Dad provided them for me between the ages of 16-18. The only sad thing is that he could have afforded a much better car for me, just wanted me to work for it myself and that is why I bought my 1999 TL before I got out of high school.

Friend's 2001 Ford Explorer Sport. That thing rattles like there is not tomorrow, and the suspension squeaks. It's embarrassing riding through parking lots in. Every time I get in it something else breaks on it. Just goes to show, Ford with over 100k miles is a FAIL.

Confused Maxima Owner
I know I have limited expieriece in the world of krappy cars, but here are my two.
2004 Dodge Stratus SE, The first car I ever drove, Also the previous gen Neon, like late 90s, it was a rental and it "'put-put'd" whenever it shifted gears.
Seems like it's unanimous that the Neon is a shitty car...

Safety Car
^ I saw a broken down SRT-4 on the road the other day. Made me laugh at all the SRT guys who have fast cars. Not so fast when its a pile of parts on the offramp.
