Thanks! I thought about getting two as well.
There are cameras on the market that have both forward and rearward views built into one unit. The quality isnt great though, unfortunately. And the rearward view shoots the passenger compartment, so the exterior views are limited.

ok so the dod gs600 is under $200. Am I correct that the only difference is it doesn't record audio? I'm not spending the near $300 on the blackvue & am not ordering anything from overseas directly. Way too many issue for me with that.

Ive been thinking about turning off the "Parking Mode" LEDs since it seems to be getting quite a bit of attention, but at the same time I think its good to let people know that I am watching them if they do something.

Dude, leave it.
I have it set up where I put "parking mode" with highest sensitive option I could in case of some asshole decides to do something to my car.
I am tired of small bump throwing my blackbox to stupid emergency mode.
I have it set up with most non sensitive mode, but still throws it off. grrrr.

Yeah, mine comes with option where I can change the sensitivity for both independently.

I wish the BlackVue had that. Mine records in "event mode" pretty much all the time. Id rather it do that then not have any recordings while parked.
There is updated firmware for the DR400G btw. It came out a month ago
Korean Version:
http://www.blackvue.com/contents/sub...ch=&searchstr=
English Version:
http://www.blackvue.co.kr/en/content...ch=&searchstr=
Use IE to download, it refuses to download for me using Chrome.

I had an officer blow through a yeild sign in an unmarked car with no lights on forcing me into the shoulder one day in 2008. I just happened to be filming with a SR-11 and it caught the whole thing with a nice clear HD shot of his plate. Cop got pissy when I flashed the brights on him and pulled me over. I asked for a uniformed cop to come and when I showed him the video, the other guy was busted....I also had 2 other drivers as witness

Need some input. I took off my auto headlight sensor. Didn't know it had this bracket that is part of the mirror. But I may be able to adapt a dash camera to this bracket. Any ideas? Do any of the cameras is this thread look like their brackets could be mounted to this? Is it metal.
#265
I don't know yet. I asked that on the 300 forum. If it's for something I have disabled then it's getting tossed. I hate all these new "auto" things on today's cars...Way too much clutter in front of the mirror for me.

Ok so the Blackvue I can get for $186. Almost ready to pull the trigger. It says it only supports a 32GB card. Is that the case? I can only find the 32Gb card in class 10. Is that sufficient?

how easy is it for you to take the camera on and off teh double sided tape? or is it meant to stay on all teh time? i'm worried that someone might see it and try to break in and swipe it.

You can take the camera out of the holder if you want to.
The camera may vibrate since the velcro isnt completely solid.
Depends on your area. You can turn the LEDs off as well so its hard to tell its there.

Tease pics....
I did a test run. it works great but working out some small issues & have to hard wire it still. I'm using that mount I had on my car as pictured earlier. Drilled a hole through the metal bracket & used a self tapping screw into the blackvue's mounting plate. Then used 2 zip ties to make it more solid. It's not going anywhere. From my test vibrations do not effect it.
BTW found out that sensor thing on my window is for the auto rain sensing wipers. But I may crack the windshield getting it off I was warned so it's staying on.

Blackvue DR400G-HD
Dislikes....
GPS & software in Korean. I haven't found a way to change that.
Not easy to setup as a result.
No sound on/off option without the software. The mic is way over powered with my stereo blasting.
Only 3 minute max record intervals. I would have liked an option to not have a limit so I could get a single long record file of say 30 minutes. If anyone knows how to combine the files into 1 video let me know.
Unit gets very hot
Likes....
Video quality & size.
I think I should have gotten the DOD-GS600. I think it was more of what I was looking to do.
Videos... 1 daytime 1 nighttime..
The 2nd road I turn onto is the bs 35mph road I got nailed for 64 in.
Pay attention to the middle of the 2nd video speakers need to be on.

Bought a second mount & power adapter & hard wired that into my Explorer. So I can now move the cam between the 2 cars.
After some time, I can't recommend this camera. It's just too difficult to get setup & having everything in Korean just blows. It has voice but it's in Korean. It has a GPS map, but it's in Korean. All the settings in the software are in Korean.
From blackvue it can't be changed.
And not having the ability to turn the sound on/off from the unit is really a PITA. Cause I want sound sometimes & not others & can only change that with the software.
Plus the park record feature needs to have the cam always on or you need to buy that battery pack thing for another $40. So I can't even use that feature.
I have a friend that has the DOD-GS600 & it's a far more useful cam then the blackview.
