I would think car makers would start having dash cams built into their vehicles by now. Anyone know if any do?
I'd also like to know what brand/model he was using. I'd love to get a dash cam but I don't want one that I'm going to forget in the car one time and then it gets stolen. Any one know if there are any small ones that could attach to the rear view mirror? I looked online briefly but could only find larger ones that are suctioned onto the windshield or are attached to the dash.

I would've waited until getting all the info from the other driver before letting him know that everything was recorded. Then I'd be like, "If you don't want me to report you to the PD and your insurance co. and give them a copy of the video, give me $500, bitch!"
You guys know you are on the internet and google is open for business right?

so what ended up happening? what did the police say?
You'd want to make sure that was said off-camera; that would be extortion, and could put you in the glue as well.
That happened to me too!
Only mine had a twist...I was driving my '95 Mazda Millenia S (at the time, late 90's, before the Acura days), I was at a traffic light, and this late 90's BMW 740 put his car in reverse, and slammed on the gas. His bumper came up about half way on top of my hood until his tires got stopped by my bumper. He rolled back forward, before he can even put his car in park, I was outside his window screaming at him. The twist was, I used to be an Auxiliary Police Officer at the time, and I was coming home from the precinct when this happened, while still in full uniform. He made up excuses, and although I saw his insurance card and registration, I called the station house, identified myself and within minutes, my superiors were on the scene. He made up excuses with them too, and said I rear ended him. He did not show his reg or insurance card to them, said he didn't have it (I saw it, he lied to them). Long story short, I ran his plates at the precinct, got his insurance info, and made the claim with his insurance company. It took them about a month before they got him to call them back, and at that point I already sent them a copy of the accident report. They asked me if I saw any damage on his car prior to the incident, I said none that I recall, and they said he made a claim that he was rear ended a few weeks back and they paid to have it fixed. They finally got through to him and he accepted liability for the incident, and I got my car fixed. Bitches!
P.S. I picked myself up a GoPro HD Hero2 recently...Good stuff!
Not a great pic, but this was me in uniform back in the day...Respect my authoritahhhh!

shoofin, so the guy that hit you put in a claim that he was rear ended and got paid, then the insurance company got the real info from you and the guy admitted fault? I hope he went to jail for insurance fraud.
If you read some of the comments from that vid, someone had pointed out that the guy's tail lights didn't even light up while in the shade when they had pulled over to the side of the road. Too many scammers out there, especially seeing vids of stupid people in crosswalks "pretending" to be hit.
hahahahahah... yes!! First thing I thought of!! I remember the guy in the old car (well, newish at the time of course) who used to back into people, put on the neckbrace, and claim he was rear-ended. I believe in one of the "accidents" he flew backwards up a highway merge ramp spinning the tires. I always wondered how CHiPs didn't notice the skid marks from the bottom of the ramp, backwards to the car. No matter... Jon and Ponch got him!! Oh to be young and naive watching TV
So what was the consensus for the dash cam? I'm going to be purchasing a GoPro Hero2... but would like one for our other car as well... and not buying two. The one Will linked above looks pretty crappy (not the greatest reviews either). Has anyone tried any others?
I am looking at the Itronics ITB-70G camera. Pricey, but not as much as another GoPro...

Yeah I am wondering about a consensus on these cams as well. I think for a dash cam the Go Pros seem a little large. However whatever I get I want to have HD recording. I have been wanting a go pro though so it may be an excuse to get one.
^ Agreed. I'm getting a GoPro for other reasons as well... but can also use it as a dash cam when commuting. I would not buy one just to have a dash cam.
BTW, I was looking around and found that iTronics has a 1080p camera as well. Model is ITB-100HD. Not as much online about it... must be fairly new. Thing is the cost for that model is near a GoPro Hero2...

hmmmmm

really? He accused the guy with the camera of running into him. He obviously did it on purpose.
