What the f%^&...

I had this problem with my last car too (1993 Honda Civic DX hatch auto). Changed VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) but it didn't helped. Found that need a cluster, cost me $350 with cluster and VSS.

My current car is having same issue, so this time I started by changing cluster but still having same problem. VSS costs around $200 + tax and its special order part with no return at dealer. Anyone have any experience with this kind of problem.

MODs please leave it in Car Talk...please..please

It's a pretty common problem-- it's the speedometer cable.

Its the VSS, it was a common problem with the Legends. Now the 1st gen TL's are getting up there in years.

In that case, good luck w/the VSS.
I've encountered that same problem in a couple of pre-'90 cars that originated from the speedometer cable.
