I remember reading that over half of all the McLaren F1s sold to the public have been destroyed in high speed collisions. The wife of BMW's CEO has wrapped two of them around a tree and nearly killed herself on the second crash. She was in a coma for a few days.

This is just another example that money can't buy skill.

Two of them?? Wtf is the BMW CEO doing letting his wife, who obviously can't drive, run around in a McLaren F1? I think she needs something more suited to her skill level...like a Civic.

The GT is akin to TVR's and the McLaren, there are very few people who can and should drive those cars.

Why does money make some people so dumb?

Unfortunaltey, I wouldn't say that. Mix high speed with someone who is even an ok driver and most of them don't know what to do when they get in over the heads.

Well.. The damage didn't look like it crashed while moving in high speed.. Maybe he lost control while in high speed and crashed after it slowed down..

Either way, it's sad to see a car like that in that condition.

This is like the guy who waS driving the Bugatti Veyron at a track in cali for the press, i think that was the location, and he spun out and almost crashed one of only 2 or 3 that test mules...that would have been 1 mill down the drain and one helluva expensive test drive.

Track was Laguna Seca in Monterey, it was one of 2 test mules worth well over $1Million and he was within inches of a concrete wall.

What I don't understand is how he lost it on one of the easier turns at Laguna Seca. If he had lost it on the Corkscrew, I can understand, but it was on turn 2 or turn 3 that he spun it.

I could just imagine everyone in the design and engineering teams waiting for him with torches and pitchforks when he got out of the hospital...

I'm sure if I were one of them, I'd be mighty pissed too...

the sad part is that still isnt enough damage to total the car...sure it might cost as much as a 911 to repair...

I'm sure its very easy to wreck a car like that, but its still funny to read the posts from the pro drivers who have their hands on 558hp cars and couldn't wreck even if they were doin 200mph+.
