Volvo's.
What you mean?? I was talking about the 850 GLT. Sorry if I wasnt clear. If you click on the link you will notice the description says IPD which is an aftermarket performance company for Volvo's. This car has been moded somehow someway, but it dosnt say where. It could be cosmetically.

I will ask the guy about the IPD stuff. He sounded like an older guy, so h emay have not modded it himself. That T5-R seems to be slightly modded as well, so I may not go into that. I want to remain mostly stock so I can drive it everyday with no problems. I wont be putting too many miles on it as I work 4 miles from my house, so it wont be too bad. Supposed to go on Saturday for a test drive. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
get a turbo wagon and throw on a bigger turbo. forget ab it... the skys the limit with volvo when it comes to boost
and yes, the older 240s will last FOREVER. you still see them on the road.
my pops still has his.

^^ My wife HATES the styling of the 850 wagon. I love it. But she says its up to me since I do most of the driving. Its going to be a family car since I have a baby on the way and Volvo's are very safe cars as well. Plus its time for something different. I bought the CL because of the rarity, so this should be the same as well. We'll see how it goes on Saturday.
www.volvospeed.com is another resource, geared more towards the 850 series. They should be able to give you some more help.
I had a 1995 850 N/A that was at about 180,000 miles, and I blew the rear main seal on it and more or less killed the engine, it was ready to go though but we didn't do a whole lot about it.
They are pretty reliable, but when they break they can be more expensive to fix. I think once your wife sees the wagon more, it will grow on her. I used to make fun of my mom for the style of the sedan, but I now love it, and wish I could get another one (Creme Yellow T5-R)
Find a local shop if you can, and have them check it out, especially the turbo and see when the timing belt was replaced (I believe it should be done around 75-100K miles).
Mine ran no better on higher octanes, so I kept putting in 87. Over the course of a year, having to run a higher octane isn't that bad financially anyways.
The cars can be lightly modded, and still be pretty reliable too, you just need to make sure that the "Stage 0" stuff is all complete first (Basic maint. stuff).
For some funner driving, you can easily get it lowered, strut bars, and a chip. I believe the stock engines/transmissions will hold up to ~20-25 PSI in boost without having problems.

^^ thanks for the info. They got a yellow t5-r sedan on autotrader for sale. I like the wagon though. Modding will be basic, if at all. I just need it to always start up when I turn the key, thats the main thing. The white one looks pretty well kept, I just hope he didnt beat on it too much. I cant wait to drive it.
