View from the Drivers Seat (no it won't buff out)

How's this for a view from the drivers seat?

Happened 9 am this morning on my way into work.

I'm ok, not a scratch on me. I didn't even touch the airbags. Also, fortunately there were no other cars involved which is amazing as this happened during the morning rush hour.

I'm hoping they don't total it out, but the airbags are blown and looking at how the bed is twisted the frame is probably bent.

Ugh, that sucks. Glad you're ok though.

I almost got side-swiped into a large pick up truck this morning by some d-bag lady in a rush to get to work. Literally inches from wrecking.

Well, it was raining, I was in the middle lane and there was a slight bend in the road, I remember I was accelerating, though not hard, there was a car to my left and none to my right. The back end kicked out and I corrected with the steering wheel but there was no stopping it. It spun around once in the middle of the freeway, then I hit the center median wall at about 50 mph pretty much head on. The airbags popped and the truck bounced off the wall and spun again and came to a rest against the wall facing oncoming traffic.

Oh, and my fresh cup of coffee spilled all over the floor

I have never been in an accident where the airbags went off. It's pretty scary.

Glad you're okay, man. My friend was in an accident a few years ago and his airbags went off...it's not much fun from what I've heard. Are your ears still ringing?

No passenger...and I thought if there is not a passenger the airbag is not supposed to go off, no? Maybe that's on newer cars. The truck is an '05.

Yea normally if theres no passenger then the airbag shouldnt have gone off.

Unless you had something heavy on the seat.

wow, glad you are fine. it is most def tricky driving rwd in the rain esp a truck. Who knows, maybe your tires were on a patch of tar or the lines of the road. That shit is slippery as hell.

Didn't look too bad in the first pictures but then I looked closer at the pic of it on the tow truck and the bed looked tweaked!

Good to hear you're okay. Driving 2WD trucks in the rain is scary.

From what I could tell the bed looked fine - the drivers side for sure. I couldn't see the passenger side to well as it was up against the median wall. But the frame is definatley tweaked as you can see from the pics. Again, hoping they can repair it because this has been my favorite truck but it doesn't look good. But cars can be repaced....

Very true...I never had an issue with the truck feeling unstable or felt like it was hydroplaning when it was raining. It was just like any other day driving really. But when the flat bed driver was driving away he said "You're the third vehicle I've towed from this area this morning. Must be some oil on the road." Uhhh....you think?

I'm glad you're OK. Unfortunately for your truck, it looks as if that may be the end of it.

As long as no other cars were involved, and no one is hurt, then it's some money. That's all.

No buff out jokes. I think insurance will total it. Did you have full coverage?

Glad you came out OK from that crash. Seems like the safety restraint and airbag did a good job.

Any news on the truck.

Thanks man.

So yesterday I called my insurance agent and asked about my truck and he said, "Yea they're going to fix it so you can go to the repair shop and ask when it will be done."

Cool I thought and headed over to the shop as I needed to get a few things out of it anyways.

So I get there and tell them I'm the owner of the white F250.

Me: "So I hear you're going to fix it."
Them: "Who told you that?"
Me: "My insurance agent."
Them: "Why did he tell you that?"
Me: "Umm...because he's my insurance agent?"
Them: "We haven't even given them a repair estimate yet. How can they tell you if it can be repaired or not?"

So we are both standing there confused. Guy turns out to be pretty cool and we talked for a good 45 minutes. He told me he was at $9000 in repairs on his estimate and hadn't even pulled it into the shop to look at the frame yet.

So....still no word on what will happen to it.

I would have started kicking in any unscathed panels while he wasn't looking

Well just got word from my insurance company, State Farm, and the truck is a total loss. Their settlement offer was very fair as well. So, I am officially looking for a replacement as my Acura CL can't haul for shit.

F250, you treated me well.

Too bad for the truck.

Now go get a Nissan Titan with a V8......

Actually, I hear Dodge trucks are pretty good, but I'm not a truck guy.

I thought there was a spot on the dash where you could turn the passenger airbag on/off?
