'Unleaded Fuel Only'

Welcome to another one of my late-night brain meanderings.

I just realized that none of the cars anybody in my family has owned in the last ten years has had the fuel gauge or instrument cluster marked with 'Unleaded Fuel Only'. I realize this should not be surprising as leaded fuel has been virtually unobtanium for quite some time now. I'm trying to think of the last car I saw that had this marking and I think it was my friend's now-sold 1995 BMW 525i.

All the newer buses at work and my friend's Chevy Cruze diesel all say 'Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel Only' but that's not unexpected.

A lot of early 90's cars said it if I recall. I haven't seen leaded fuel at a mainstream gas station since maybe '96.

I haven't seen leaded fuel since I started driving in 1989, at any gas station, ever. I do remember unleaded fuel only stickers, though.

My 95 Nissan pickup had that on it.

Crime has gone down since they got rid of it, so good riddance Pb

Edit: I don't think I ever pumped gas when lead was around

I think my '03 Passat says unleaded premium only.

But a lot of these cars end up in Africa, where I think leaded fuel is still used here and there.

Didn't Colorado use leaded fuel as recently as the early 90s?
