My Wife asked why didn't I wait to get the Alpine money back and I said because as it is I'll be lucky to have it in 2 weeks.

 

86 has been at the dealer since Wednesday getting the "we owe" done.

Yesterday they said the car would be ready today. At 8:30 they called and said they were waiting for the detail and the person dealing with it would be in contact. At noon I left a message in his VM, at 2:30 I texted the service advisor. No response. I called the sales manager who said he saw it in the detail area and it looked great but needed to check and would call back, that was 60 minutes ago......

Grrrrr

 

They called & it was ready but we're eating dinner so I'll get it tomorrow.

Looking at videos about the DDX919 it seems the connector we use for XM radios is different and in one the Australian guy says they don't use it. I have a Kenwood DVD/NAV/media museum in my garage (5 units going back 10 years) So I disassembled the oldest (DNX891HD) & the first thing I see is it's optical drive which is the solution to the DVD region issue (the one I got is 3)

If this fits, I'm done, even if it doesn't I can get an optical drive from a current US unit that I'm sure will work.

Unfortunately, the XM socket is soldered on the PCB on the 891 so that's a no go BUT I found a 64gb Sony sd card I forgot abut that's been in there forever so that's cool!W

Went to Safeway before I picked up the car. There is a guy (black not that it matters) that sits on a bench between the market & a nail salon, he has been there the last 10 times I have gone to Safeway or the UPS store which is next door to the nail place.

Today the machine didn't "hear" my shopper card so there was a 4.xx refund they gave me in cash. I never give money to people but I have never seen him asking and he looks pathetic and I offered him the 4 1.00 bills.

He looks me in the eye and with a crazy arrogance said I don't accept single dead men. I said I'm sorry, I was not trying to offend you, I was trying to help and gtfo there.

I wish I had asked where do you draw the line 5.00 dead men? 10? 20?..

WTF & solidifies my normal modus Operandi to ignore people.

You are lucky! The last thing I ordered from overseas took over a month to get. Depends on the type of shipping they use, I guess. Whoever sent it to you did good.

Tried to flash the Maestro and it does not have the model & won't accept the serial number in a similar 2019 US Kenwood. Guess I'm returning the Maestro & getting a harness from Australia.

 

Waiting for the steering wheel interface adaptor & misplaced the AM/FM radio antenna adaptor but wireless Bluetooth Carplay is awesome!

The Kenwood harness came with the power/speaker connector for the car, I'll send the one I bought back.

Awesome! This is the last remaining thing of my install in the Jeep. Unfortunately I need to fabricate a bracket myself to mount the camera.

Thanks, it's funny. Many people complain because the buttons are on the other side, (because for right-hand drive cars) I like it out of the way & most functions are through steering wheel or voice. It has gesture control, I turned it off.

It sounds better than the stock radio with no other changes. I will be installing Hertz speakers & my Pioneer amps & a sub eventually. It is cooler today, "only" 113 so my garage time is limited.
