Congrats! Tune it and you'll be about as fast as your M5. If you're worried about cpo its as simple as removing the tune, it doesn't leave any shadow or tuned code. With e85 and tune you'll be pushing 400/400 to those rear wheels.

Great color choice btw.

Thanks for the feedback. I have to admit, I've been really impressed with the power and responsiveness of the car at stock. I know the tunes on the 335 are even more impressive.

Congrats on getting back into something you enjoy to drive Tim Love that grey on the 335. My buddy has a 335i vert and it is definitely fun to drive with the turbo tq.

Cliff's: I feel your pain, Tim.

Details:

Brakes started pulsing at 38k miles while I was on a 3k mile road trip in early June. With these performance rotors, the service manual indicates not to turn them, just replace them. So I did--with GM's new Brembo 2-piece rotors that are found at Cadi discounters for $600 a pair! That's cheeeeep. spent another $250 on pads and $150 or so on installation. Now the car brakes better than new at 40k miles. Hopefully these new rotors will last more than 40k miles this time.

Now for new tires. Pulled the trigger on Hankook Ventus V12s because I didn't want to pay for a third set of Michelin Pilot PS2s at 1650-1800 on TireRack. The Hankooks are $900 shipped.

Maintenance on these cars can be a lot.

Did I mention that I have to replace my two front snow tires for the V before winter? That's another $400-500.

Next year, maintenance should be close to zero other than oil changes....have to grin and bear it this year.
I feel you both on this. Thought I would have to replace rotors this time around at pretty much the same price. Managed to get away with just pads and tires though at $500 and $1100. Could have spent $300 on pads but wanted OEM bite with no dust so spent more. I know I will be at $1100-1300 for rotors for one piece wish I could get 2 pieces for that price but they are $2200. I went with the Ventus V12 as well so be interested to hear what you think of them as well over time bob.

If you and I were at a stoplight, you might be momentarily jealous of my car being a convertible as we sat there...and then when the light turned green, I'd be the jealous one as you BLEW my doors off with that Mustang!

Thanks. Mods, for now, probably just some minor aesthetic items - gloss black kidney grilles, painted front fender reflectors, aluminum pedals, LED angel eyes. We'll have to see if there's sufficient cash flow in the future for anything more significant...like a tune ([cough] ESS [cough]).

Stop it.

Prior to that, I had the TL for five years, the Accord SE for six years, the Integra LS-SE for seven years. We've had the Pilot for nine years.

The recent deal isn't a normal pattern for me...thankfully.

Sorry I had to point it out

My parents keep cars forever as well. My dad had his truck for 20 years before getting a new car. My mom still drives her 1997 Dodge Intrepid that we bought in late 1996.

I hope the 335 gets you around for many years to come

I'm not sure which is worse, having the 4 in 13 months thing pointed out, or being compared to your parents.

Nice pics , although your maintenance costs are down compared to your E60 M5 your sunscreen costs just 10X . Great place to own a convertible.

Couple of positives.

1.) You have the N54 not the N55 engine
2.) You have an oil cooler (Even if you don't utilize it)

You need to get a tune, as for ESS, they are more related to the M3 than the 335. Big tunes are JB, Procede and Cobb.

They can be had for around $500, you won't believe the difference.

Excellent point on the sunscreen. Perhaps I should hit Costco or Sam's Club and buy said product in bulk.

Definitely late to this thread, but I enjoyed reading about the M5 and Gen. Definitely sorry about the set back, plus you have an AMAZING wife. Now you have a nice 3-series vert, and in the pics you have a very happy family. I don't care if it is looked at as a bad purchase, imo its a bad ass car. From what you've been through (seems to have been a rough month or two period and I lol'd at the story of the highway patrol dude waggin his finger at you, tellin you to slow down in your E60), you deserve it and the Mrs. knows well. Congrats on the new purchase and hope you enjoy many happy miles.
