Okay, enough suspense...my wife sat me down night before last and encouraged me to get rid of the Genesis. She could tell I hated it and she told me, despite the short-term financial impact, I should use a bit of my recent bonus and get something that was still cost effective to deal with the ongoing "Mom Issue", but that I would still enjoy.
I bought a '09 CPO BMW E93 335. Space Gray Metallic, Cream Beige Dakota Leather, Gray Poplar Wood Trim, Sport package, premium package, Steptronic 6-spd. Auto trans, sport steering wheel with paddles, Comfort Access with Comfort Load package, heated front seats, navigation, HD radio, satellite radio, Logic 7, iPod adapter, bluetooth phone. Original MSRP of $62k; listed for $41.5k; paid $38.5k. I pay $50/mo more for the car than I did the Genesis and $20/mo less than the M5.
It's not the M5 (which I still miss), but it's a lot more fun than the Genesis was ever going to be and I'm covered up to 100k miles under warranty (bought it with 37k miles). I've also got full maintenance coverage until 50k miles and it will cost me $2k to buy a full maintenance plan through 100k miles, if I so decide.
The kids love it. Took them for a ride with the top down last night and they had a blast. My oldest is especially relieved; he liked it when I would pick him up at Jr. High in that red M5. The new 335i will still be cool enough in his book.
Please, no lectures on the financial stupidity of how this went down. Circumstances sometimes dictate strange things. Did I take a hit on the Genesis? Yes. In hindsight, should I have waited a bit and traded the M5 across for this? Perhaps; assuming I didn't have to do the rear brakes and the clutch (both of which were getting close) before I did the trade.
So far, the car is a blast to drive. It corners flat and fast. The turbo charged six is a kick in the pants and the general feel of the car is a notch above in terms of fit and finish. Very pleased with this little car. I have a number of pics on the camera at home; I'll post pics this weekend.

Congrats T! I saw that S4 link and it said "Sorry sold, thanks Tim in Phx" so I figured you ended up with that.
The 335 is a great car! We need pics!

Wow didn't see that one coming. Congrats T, love the 335s, great looking/performing cars. I'm sure it has a much sportier feel to it. I could tell in your posts you weren't 100% sold on the Genesis purchase. Sure you took a small financial hit, but at least now you can be happy while still being in a better position than with the M5. All the best luck with the new car. So when do I get to drive it?

You can drive it next time you're in town. Just let me know.

It's tight back there. You wouldn't want to ride in the back on a long trip, but this car isn't really for road-tripping with the family. Plus, I'm not very tall (5'7"), so whoever rides behind me would have a more room than normal.

I'm a bit late to the guess-what-ttribe-bought pool...but, I was gonna guess LFA.
Or ZR-1.
Or ZR-1.

Congrats again, dude. How do you like the feel of this car compared to the Gen?

This 335, on the other hand, sits low, corners very flat with the sport package, and the turbo IL-six has quite a bit of torque; not to mention a really nice exhaust note with the top down. Plus, with the addition of the sport paddles on the wheel, and a "sport" mode on the trans (really just changes throttle response), the 335 is much more engaging.

Yeah, I think the 335 and Gen are very different cars...One has clearly a much more sporty foundation...
Drive in safe and enjoy, dude!

I actually wanted it to read "ttribe's Sauerkraut to Kimchi back to Sauerkraut Journey..."
But, decided we've had enough shenanigans in Car Talk to last awhile.
