Toyota's Slipping Safety

Makes me appreciate Honda/Acura's specific focus in this area. Thank god we dont have one of those potential Toyota death boxes We really dont appreciate this aspect of our vehicle until it's needed the most.

I do sometimes wonder how many of our mods or non oem parts compromise this though...

No it's not. Toyota has been shown to have software issues. That's the main cause

I've heard software issues and I've also heard something as simple as a quarter sized washer would fix the accelerator pedal. So unless you've had first hand experience, then you only know what you've heard. Like a parrot we often times repeat what we've heard. So, you don't really know what the issues are. However, I do know that GM has had many issues and recalls and safety issues as well as crap quality over the years. Its been unfortunate for Toyota that their problems has effected peoples lives. I remember when the paint on my 86 IROC peeled when it was 2 years old! And they wouldn't fix it. And the dealer wanted to charge me 1,000 to fix it. So GM has screwed me over many times. Not to mention 99% of GM dealers attitudes at the parts counter and on the sales floor. I guess I'm getting off the subject.. but ya,I think Toyota still has good quality cars. And Much better than GM.

I just read an article in the La-times about it. Over 85 people of died as a result of sudden excessive speeds. The age ranged from middle aged to elderly in various Toyota models and years. One was a cop and another a professional driver. I would say, if one was a family of one of these people, it's not blown out of proportion.
