Todays Test Drives (Evo and G35C)

So i'm on my way to getting a new car, i've been jumping all over the place and I thought I was finally settled on a G35 or M3 or S4 avant. I wanted an evo but the wifey says no So Shadzilla and I decided to go do some test driving today.

So, I drove an m3 a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it, but it's still pretty expensive (I would buy it used). I was eager to drive the G35C to see if it was close to the fun factor. Well it's not. The car felt gutless, you couldn't feel the road under you. I like real stiff cars so MAYBE a G35C w/ some suspension work would be for me, but i've yet to drive one. It's very floaty and very heavy. While it's much better then my first gen, it just didn't give me the feel I wanted, it definately didn't feel very tossable. But then again, all the had was an Automatic for me to drive. I did manage to get her Sideways and loosen up the sales guy a bit.

Afterwards I saw an evo in the corner and said let's go drive that. I've driven one before and absolutely loved it (Blxmjx old modded evo), but it's a car the wife will have to be driving too so i've tried to put it out of my head. This car definately wasn't what I remember from Arnolds Evo, but then again he was putting down around 350-400 HP and had done some suspension work.

But man is this car just a blast in stock form. A little lag but when boost hit it HITS!!

I actually got yelled at by the sales guy for weaving in and out of traffic doing about 80 , he then said "we should probably turn around here". Not satisfied yet I decided to really open her up, she climbs to 100+ quick. This car has balls, and I think it is what I'll get. I still really want to put some seat time in the M3 and S4 (haven't driven the audi yet) I had the salesguy scared shitless and Noshad in the back w/ his cousin holding on tight while i'm doing 120 down a residential road

Got out and pulled the total Cobra Video Move "Eh, do you have it in any other color then black?"

got out and walked away

yea, my only problem is I know i'll get bored w/ the power and it costs an ARM AND A LEG to get some decent power out of those things.

hey, what can I say, I guess i'm just use to the torque and lightness of our vette where you stap the throttle, turn and it slides in a second. You have to really TRY to get the G unsettled. But then again, that is a good thing as well

I dunno if he would like the M3.. cant mod it much. Even if you want to mod it the parts are stupid expensive. Just doesnt seem like Scott could leave a car in stock form.

Otherwise i would say M3!

How about a B5 S4? Mod the crap out of that and save some coin.

Is this new car going to be used as a daily driver? If so, how does the EVO hold up in that regard? Is it a rough ride?

Kinda what he said except the new one. they're sick! I'd stay away from the M3 since you aren't rich if you plan on moding unless you want to live in it.

Actually, my cousin has an STi. He probably would've let Scott drive it, if it weren't for the fact that we spent 15 minutes in the backseat witnessing Mr. Smooth brutally and mercilessly RAPE the gearbox on that poor EVO. I'll never buy a car from Carmax, ever.

But I will say this, I was impressed with both cars. The G35 had some decent power, especially considering it was an auto, the A/C was on, and there were four people in the car. And the Evo wasn't nearly as loud/uncomfortable as I thought it would be, and of course, it was very fuckin fast (again, with A/C and four people inside).

I think out of all those cars that Scott mentioned, I too would go with the M3. Although, if I were in his shoes, I'd get an S2000

Last time Scott was in town, we tried to test drive one. The redneck Pontiac salesman who spoke and dressed like he was stuck in 1975 told us they don't do test drives on the GTO because they are "a very exclusive vehicle"!!!!

Thats what the dealer in Orlando told me. I proceeded to ask him why there were 5 on the lot if that was the case.

Hmmmm.....

I'd say S4 first quite possibly.

SECOND EVO

THIRD M3 (noAWDNOCARE)

G35C isn't even in the same class drivers-wise.

I don't like the Evo OR the STI for Scott... he's a big dude, and he looks like a fucking retard trying to stuff himself into these tiny little cars! I understand that they're "performance vehicles" and they're really easy to mod, they don't even NEED mods to make them fun, they have great handling, great power, etc etc etc, but that does not change the fact that if you have to hunch your shoulders and bring your knees to your chest to get into a car that doesn't have "TIDE" emblazoned on the side, it's TOO F-ING SMALL FOR YOU!!!

If I had things my way, he'd be driving an Expedition or something equally huge. I think his CL is WAY too small for him, I've been telling him that ever since I first saw him in it, and he has been AGREEING WITH ME the whole time, so I don't know why these tiny ass racecars suddenly appeal to him again!

Scott, you are over six feet tall and you weigh over a deuce and a quarter.... You cannot drive a car designed for the Azn Nation, I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry, and I really hope we can find something that we can both agree on that will have the performance you desire and is affordable, but an EVO is not it.

well on that, the evo is bigger then the G35 C and also has a lot more interior space. I felt f'ing cramped in that thing

I'm confused.

Your wife at times complains about cash and how she just finished paying off her Credit Card debts. Your planning a wedding which I presume costs money yet your planning on buying a M3 or S4?

WTF am I missing here?

And no, we don't own a home, and we don't plan on owning one anytime soon. You're absolutely right in that it would be smarter to spend money on that, but ... his car is dying, he needs a new one, and whatever he buys, it will be used, and it will be affordable.

We're currently in the "dreaming of a new car" stage, not the "planning to buy one tomorrow" stage, so it's okay to test drive a bunch of crap we have no intention of buying, even if it's only in an effort to weed out the cars we have considered but aren't sure about. Like the G35C; we both thought that'd be a good one until he test drove it and didn't like it, so that's no longer an option.

We aren't planning a wedding anymore remember

And my new car will be a graduation present, my parents will help w/ a down payment and i'll take care of the rest (yes, i love mommy and daddy )

But as she said, i'm realistically 6-8 months away from a new car, unless the CL dies on me before that
