EVO 9 MR > STI

E90 M3 > EVO 9 MR

If you want a rice rocket get the evo.

If you want luxury get the M3. Dont forget the new E90's are coming out soon.

V8 > 4 banger.

And we won't be able to buy a home in SoCal for at least 10 or more years. The downpayment alone on a 500 sq. foot shack in the heart of the ghetto would cost more than my yearly salary, and I'M the primary breadwinner... so a house isn't even an option at this point. I know it will be less of an option once we buy a car, but I would rather drink my glass of water than ineffectually try to turn it into an ocean.

Words of wisdom:

You can live in your car but you can't drive your house.

If I had the coin....I'd go for the M3.....otherwise I agree with you 100%, the EVO is a blast out of the box. The STi was a little more raw IMO (louder, rougher). And your reviews on the GTO and G35C are right on with my thoughts.

that's odd, cause i've heard the complete opposite about the STI compared to the Evo in every review i've read. Guess i'll have to drive it

Dont like it? They're ok, not as many out there as the G35 and they're pretty fast. In your price range as well.

I would wait for the Evo 9 MR.........more power, nice styling update, upgraded interior (dash, seats), 6spd, and the daily driver friendly Bilstein's.

Legacy GT is a nice choice as well, just not as exciting.

Since there's no convincing Scott he should get a Civic how about a GTO? Isn't that what you were thinking before?

If you'd consider a $30k Lancer or Impreza, then an Alti SE-R is fair game for consideration.

*sigh* I'm just a realist, and I know my husband... he's either going to buy a $35k car, or he's going to buy a $15k car and put $20k into it over time... I'd rather know how much we're going to spend from the get-go, so I can budget accordingly. That's all.

And Sarlacc, if letting the woman hang out with your buddies keeps you from getting a car that will make you look like a fool, I'd count myself lucky if I were you.

we did debate me getting a civic hatchback for a long time, but of course by the time I'd make it how I'd want it and how i'd realistically need it to be to enjoy it it'd be a 5K car w/ 15K worth of upgrades to it

Plus, whatever I do get next will last me a LONG time (5-6 years)

Dunno if the price is right, but if it is this is a steal!

2005 Cadillac CTS-V for $38,990 with only 36 miles.

Here's a used 2005 CTS-V with 4K miles for only $37,956.

Well to be fair most of the used 2005 CTS-V's are in the low to mid 40's, but those are the cheapest ones (assuming it's not a misprint) I saw on AutoTrader.com with pics of the cars.

Why do you think that is? Because they are the hottest cars out there for the $ (along with the GTO, Vette, and CTS-V).

Being different is cool, but most people can't afford to be "that" different.
