My recommendation after having driven a new M3, S4, and STI:

She'll spank all of the above in the 1/4 and on a road course (not w/ me driving though).

I really want a Corsa exhaust. The stock one burbles a bit but I want people to know I'm coming. I've seen one w/ black wheels. Gorgeous.

Personally I'm looking at 02-04 C32 AMG. Can pick them up for mid 30's, 4 doors, runs mid to low 13's stock - high 12's with just new pulley and ECU. Luxurious ride with a LOT of torque and all the ammenities you can think of.

C32

Just drove one last saturday, nice ride, but the interior feels REALLY cheap. I'd go with the M3 instead of the C32.

Not a big fan of the CTS-V design though not alot of people would agree with my opinion.

BTW i would quote this ^^ guy's (jeremy clarkson) comment towards CTS-V designing " It seems like it was designed by someone who only had a ruler".

Of course the CTS is a very ugly design. Cadillac took the route of dressing up an ugly design enough with performance modifications in order to make it enticing enough for buyers. I hate the CTS with a passion and I'd still rock a CTS-V because of that LS2. Regardless of that Home Depot grille and hideous ass, I'd still drive that thing like I stole it. Same thing goes for the Evolution: who actually buys a Lancer because it's such a nice-looking car?

I must say though, I do like the black CTS-V with the black rims. Very clean look.

The CTS-V is extremely hot, but the interior does suck.......and the wheel hop is ridiculous.

I still think the 06 will have the issue.

You can pick them up cheap though, not a bad buy.

scott, based on price range, size factor, fun/mod factor, sounds like you should test drive the Legacy GT.

I'd love a C2S... but I think I'd settle for a 95 C2... Champagne tastes on a beer budget

A C4 might be a better idea for me in New England, but I don't know if I could submit a porsche to the salt and sand in the winter... I cringe whenever I see sportscars/convertibles in a snowstorm

I think a C4 (awd for those who don't know) with a set of Blizzaks on it would rule in the winter here... Buy a high mileage one, so I don't feel so bad, and drive the piss out of it...

Maybe put a plow on the front of it

Which would you rather own in a few years ... MB C32 or a Caddy CTS-V? Beautiful yes, but probably headaches waiting to happen. Which will be less of a maintenance nightmare? I'm calling it a push.

if you're thinking of a new CTS-V or SRT-8, why not just by the 993 now Scott?

Buy a high mileage one for good coin. You're not going to flip the car, so repainting etc isn't going to hurt your bottom line in the end.
Start now, and build it while u drive it. A stock 993 is nothing to sneeze at in it's own right, start tracking it from day 1 and once you get the power implant, you'll havea good handle on teh cars quirks and characteristics...

I thought about it, but frankly I know what happens to cars when you build them as you drive them. They simply never get done (or they spend a lot of time down and you still need another car to get around in). If I'm gonna do my dream 993 i'm gonna spend some time w/ the car on a rotiserie covering every inch of it.

HOwever, that is a good thought. I'll go take a look around, I just think I need something a little more practical right now that can still haul around a good amount of junk since I usually have to fill the car up w/ shit frequently. But, i'm still a few months away so i'll look into it.

dude, if you're looking at a non turbo'd 993, you're going to replace EVERYTHING anyway.

You can buy parts, and install a lot of it yourself over time. Then when it's time for the turbo motor/tranny, you can take it off the road for a month or two to get it all squared away. before that time, you can enjoy and learn the car, and stockpile parts for a mass install....

That's the main reason why I bought the CLS.. Figured it would be more practical, and while I still love my CLS, there are some times I wished I would have bought a 993 instead (and a beater to haul stuff).
