I took your post as more of an irrational Audi uber alles kind of statement, which does not have much historical support.

You should try doing some reading outside of Acura-TL.com and then maybe you would stumble across some articles that have tested all 3 cars. Giving the Audi (more often than not) better performance ratings between the 3.

i.e.,
Car & Driver
Road & Track
Motor Trend

Go check it out for yourself. If you still find it hard to find, I can research some of the links of the articles I printed out and am looking at right now.

That is the point I was making, and as you can see, I moderated my initial reaction. Apparently that didn't have the desired effect.

In any event, let me assure you I am well versed in automotive history, past and present, as well as a longstanding member of several BMW forums (look me up on bimmerforums and bmwboard, not to mention NSX prime), not to mention a former and future BMW owner and current BMW CCA member, who participates in BMW CCA events including driving schools, etc.

My TL replaced a BMW 325i that was more fun to drive, albeit slower in a straight line, less reliable and not as comfortable. But when I got the NSX last year, the need for two RWD cars was lacking, particularly when you have a real winter.

You should reconsider your perception of me and my automotive knowledge, or you will find yourself looking foolish rather soon.

BTW, I had a letter published in Road and Track in 1990. How old were you?

WTF...I currently own a W211 E55 and previous car was a 03 RS6 with Chip and Exhaust...Yes the RS6 felt like it handled better, but the E55 will crush it in every performance aspect (not including handling). My E55 is bone stock right now and it NOTICEABLY pulls harder than my former modded RS6. The torque is not nearly the same in the RS6 as it is in the E55. Do I dislike the RS6? No way, I absolutely loved it!!! But the E55 is hands down more powerful. The E55s tranny is MUCH, I repeat, MUCH better than the RS6s as well. As for braking, the E55 is kinda lame. So, I don't understand how "Audi always beats BMW and MB..." I don't want to even get started with BMW vs. Audi. Audi does make great cars, but I probably won't buy another one again.

 

Trust me, I LOVE MB over all 3 car makers (i.e., MB, BMW, Audi) and I have a C55 coming next month but even Audi's RS6 beat out the E55 MotorTrend's review of overall performance. MotorTrend clearly gave credit to the E55 for flat out beating the RS6 in a straight line but overall performance went to the RS6. Despite this, there is no way, however, that I would even consider paying more $$ for an RS6 over an E55. E55 all the way!

So yes, so far, the 3 recent classes, even counting the stationwagon's have had Audi come out on top of the others. Yeah, maybe "always" was too much of a generalization but as of recent, Audi wins with overall performance.

Sup Sick one! Long time...been busy with starting my company and now it's kinda flowing and doesn't need all my attention. What a ride it was the last 2 years, cars after cars, couldn't stay put for more than 6 months (04 E500).

I talked to Mike and just realized that he got rid of his GS400 for an E55. I took his advice and will do Renntech Stage 1 next week and went with HRE547R but went with 275s in the rear (Crazy @ss Mike suggested 305s...LOL)

Good to see you again man! BTW, my wife, son, and I are LOVING our LX470...hell its our second one we loved it so much. Yes, we actually test drove the Range Rover and still bought another LX, damn does Lexus know how to make a car of what!!!

Will post pics after Sept. 8th after ALL my mods are done!

 

You're right, the Magz did give Audi the first place trophy. In terms of RS6 vs E55, it was the oddest article I've read (at the time I had RS6) and I noticed the editor giving the RS6 1st place yet went on to comment something like "..would still buy an E55 over the Audi"...WTF?

BTW, saw a C55 at my local dealer today...LOOKS SWEET!!! Great choice and congrats Nick! You will love the car and the car looks beautiful, meaner than the C32. Post some pics when you get your ride!

I will definitely post some pics too. I was thinking about calling the dealership today just to see if they have a delivery date yet as I'm suppose take delivery in September! There was a guy waiting for his C55 and said he received a letter from his dealership letting him know when to expect delivery. I hope I get one of those letters soon!

The E55 is simply the sports sedan right now. Incredible performance for the money. Great choice.
