Getting ready to test drive a 2005 STI

I just got off the phone with my local subaru dealer and they want me to come in and test drive an STI. I'm probably gonna come in this weekend.

What should I expect ? this car was #1 reader review magazine or some magazine ...

I know they made some changes to the 2005 ... so I can't wait to drive this beast

I think changes are minor, like making the stereo part of the car, rather than an option.

I've driven an 05, and got the chance to do a single autoX run in an 04.

What to expect...raw power, TONS of torque. I REALLY had to get used to clutch and gear box. There is no finessing it, you just have to shift and go. This car is not about refinement, its about power and out and out handling. When you get back in your TSX, 6spd?, you will immeadiately notice how smooth the acura.

Also, if you allowed to push it and you find yourself in a understeer situation, THROTTLE THROUGH IT. This car goes against the tradtional driving convention it was made to power through understeer to save it. Also, make sure the DCCD is on auto. no reason for it to be in manual.

The car, in my opinion, is AMAZING.

I just sold my 2004 STI (engine power raised to 360 hp) to buy my Honda Accord Euro.

The STI was a wonderful car, but for an everyday use it's really hard to use all the power. It would be an excellent car for track days only but it is quite an amount of money to make it possible.

I think I'll buy one again, as a second car, probably in 2006. It was my third Subaru, hard to sell it...

well I just did my test drive... for just 6 miles well I guess better than nothing

This was a brand new 2005 STI … blue with gold rims…

The CAR was fast and felt really nice around corners ... I was really happy and impressed after driving the STI... the only thing I will change about the car, it’s the rims. ... I don't like the rims, and I will probably do a smaller spoiler ...

I must say that this car rides much better than 2004 EVO I also test drove... ( if you ask me I will choose the STI 10 times over the EVO) for the STI the steering wheel feels beefy and tight... very nice …
And the brakes .. I wasn't too impressed by them .. well again this car only had 7 miles ... they need some time for the brakes to really work well ….
